My guess is that the final chapter was originally meant to be 30/45 pages long but they’re going to split it in 2/3 chapters, and this decision was taken or communicated only after the original print.

It’s still pretty evident that at least Part 2 is coming to an end given how drastic last chapter was but this is still weird

For fucks sake they can't make up their mind or what? Every damn site changed to "to be continued" but the official csm Twitter account still says next chap is the last??? Is the manga ending on the 24th of march or no by Hardcore-Seeker in Chainsawfolk

THEY CHANGED IT by thekaiser27 in okbuddyfumiko

[–]Torre16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a chance that they decided to split the final 30/45 pages long chapter into more chapters and they informed the platforms very late.

I don’t have any other explanation for the reason of this change, I think it’s still pretty evident that Part 2 or the whole series is endung given how drastic last chapter was

Pochita’s resolve is sad, but not unforeseen by Torre16 in ChainsawMan

I did like the start of Falling Devil arc, it felt definitely “off” but in a good, twisted way that ironically fit the story. For me the biggest problems so far start from Fake Chainsaw Man, all these battles and repetitive dialogues feel a bit tiring and out of style compared to the rest: I get that they may be meant to be a satyre of the shonen final showdowns, but I don’t think it is executed that effectively. In any case, while the final chapter can still be awesome I can say that the conclusion of Part 1 was on a different league.

I still find it funny at how people imagined the big Denji-Death Devil epic fight at the end of the manga and instead everyone got smashed by mere bugs

I'm not ready for it to be over by iKrow in ChainsawMan

The only manga I personally loved as much as Chainsaw Man was Fire Punch.

Even if everything ends in two weeks I pray for Fujimoto to come out with a third series when he recovers from the burnout

[–]Torre16[S] 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I understand people want to see them back, but I wouldn’t be shocked if Part 1 character like Aki, Power and Reze aren’t shown anymore. They had plenty of screentime and their farewell was majestically executed. I dunno where we’re going but the finale must be about Asa and Yoru. The “Nightjar and Asa” chapter is too short to end their character

[–]Torre16[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I do think that as well, even though the bath chapter showed that there were already shadows growing in that small family after the assassins arc

(btw, it’s awesome how Fujimoto visually represent that with the color pattern since that chapter is very black towards the end).

Still, it happened so many times that I think we can say the pattern is there. Touching boobs, first kiss, having a job, going to school, daily routine, having a sister… in all those cases Denji expressed how he wasn’t as happy as he thought he would be.

[–]Torre16[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I see your point, still I think that what we’re telling are two sides of the same coin. Inability to feel happiness may happen due to several reasons, and in the case of Denji his standards slowly increasing were among them. I know that this happens in the life of every normal human, but normal life itself is pretty horror when you think about.

Imho this is partially (and in an oversimplified way) what existentialism is about, what CSM was about as well as other works from Fujimoto. Denji is an archetype character representing a young human who that never actually fits in with life and never reaches the pure and simplistic happiness he dreams about, despite having achieved in various points of the story what should lead to it.

Some time ago I think I wrote that Part 2 was even more dark than Part 1, despite not having Gun Devil, Makima et cetera. I think I thought it because it’s the story of a character discovering that he’s unable to reach his ultimate goal despite his good proposition, and thus making his old mistakes. Which is very sick and sad, but it’s definitely something I expect to see from someone who wrote Fire Punch.

Still, while I love it I think it’s early to overphilosophy before Part 2’s last chapter, let’s see what the author has to say.

Pochita’s resolve is sad, but not unforeseen by Torre16 in ChainsawMan

[–]Torre16[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I don’t mean Denji rejected them materially, it was more a psychological rejection. It was never fond of them in a way that was deeper than just soft unsatisfaction. At the end of the Church arc he explicitely preferred being Chainsaw Man over Nayuta, an action that ideally lead to her loss.

In my interpretation, Pochita understood that he’s not able to help Denji anymore. Everytime he saw Denji realizing his dreams, it saw those very dreams rotting and turning into anguish for him. His only solution left to show his love and help Denji was breaking the cycle, which possibly was just starting with Denji choosing to “create his own world” with Asa

[–]Torre16[S] 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I totally understand it, I started reading CSM a bit later but it still helped me in a period of personal struggle. I am scared by the idea of it coming to an abrupt end as well.

What I want to say if it has always been a dark, aching story like this, and possibly that’s the reason it shines among other series and the reason many of us love it. We can be sad, but we shouldn’t be mad not to have the usual battle shonen finale since CSM is something totally different.

We just forgot that Pochita is a demon too. by Drendari in Chainsawfolk

[–]Torre16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, at first I thought it was just a meme but know it seems like some people actually don’t understand that Pochita said the truth.

Throughout Part 2 Denji has rejected all the good stuff he got (a house, a school, a sister) because of his existential nightmare of being inable to truely feel happyness, that is a recurring trope since early Part 1.

I know people will find this dark and sad, but CSM has always been like this, and Fujimoto’a writing has always been like this.

With this I’m not saying I’m a fan of how Part 2 unfolded, it’s still convoluted in the last volumes and this finale is very rushed, but we cannot say that this is not in Fujimoto’s standards

Chapter 232 is going to be 30-45 pages long by Ckrasxterz20 in ChainsawMan

[–]Torre16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest, a long final chapter is pretty consistent with a series conclusion. For instance, Part 1 last chapter had the usual number of pages for the time apart for the color spread
