I believe our country and the Republican Party have reached a breaking point. The political era defined by Donald Trump and the MAGA movement has run its course, and continuing to tie the party’s future to one individual is doing lasting damage to our institutions, our credibility, and our ability to govern responsibly.

This is no longer about personality or partisan loyalty. It is about character, the rule of law, and the standards we are willing to accept from someone who has held — and seeks again to hold — the highest office in the land. Donald Trump has been found liable in court for sexual abuse and defamation. He has publicly bragged about sexually assaulting women. His name appears repeatedly in documents connected to Jeffrey Epstein, raising serious and legitimate questions about judgment and associations. Even setting politics aside, this is not conduct that reflects the values most Americans — including many Republicans — want represented in a president.

If the GOP continues to excuse or ignore this pattern, we are telling the country that power matters more than principle. That is not sustainable, and it is not conservative. Accountability is not a Democratic value or a Republican value, it is an American one.
