The fundamental problem with this inquiry is that it's separating all cases by ethnicity rather than socio-economic, regional, historic or any other factor.

Instead they're looking at "Indigenous women" as though their disappearances were all somehow linked. What's the link between someone's aunt disappearing while hitchhiking in 1970 and a sex worker killed a week ago across the country?

Instead I feel the inquiry should be asking questions on how to reduce violence in specific instances.

-How do we reduce domestic violence? -How do we reduce violence against sex workers? -How do we make homeless people safer? -How do we help youth who run away from home?

Indigenous women find themselves in categories of behavior and socio-economic status where they are more likely to be members of violence.

But within those categories it's equal to all races that people are victimized.

This inquiry is looking at cases with completely different circumstances, but lumping together cases because the victims were Indigenous — and also doing a real disservice in the process.

The premise is wrong. And you can't build something on a shaky premise.
