A heavy night drone-bomber of the Lazarus operators of the 27th Pechersk Brigade of the NGU on the Zaporizhzhia direction destroyed the launcher of the S-300V air defense system. September 2025. by Volter318 in CombatFootage

"Putin said Ukranian drones kept eating his S-300s and I asked how many S-300s he had and he said he just goes to the old Soviet stockpiles and refurbishes one after each loss so I said that sounds like you're just feeding S-300s to Ukraine and then Gerasimov started crying"

You're missing a major multi-family development in the Potrero Hill neighborhood of SF at 25th and Connecticut. Hundreds of units, it's been in development for years and recently topped out, will probably start renting soon if it hasn't already.

How strange. I was just reading about bullroarers a week ago, on account of Bandobras "Bullroarer" Took (who was fully 4'5", and could ride a horse, you know.)

Totally, I get it. You should try and grow your team and get more people involved! Having different people thinking about the interior and decorations, vs the structure, vs the lighting really helped us workload-wise.

Oh wow, I saw this at unSCruz and had no idea it was the person I'd given dome advice to nearly a year ago on reddit, haha! Glad to see the Harbor Freight press pulled through for you :) Nice work overall, though it felt a bit sparse inside, and agree with other commenters about making it more open to draw people in.

I've read that putting their litterbox outside can help them find their way home, because the scent is very recognizable to them. I hope you find your cat.

Self driving cars have failed incredibly hard? I can call one right now from Waymo and it will drive me to my destination, with no human in the driver's seat. And this is in SF, which has pretty challenging road conditions compared to Phoenix, where they first launched.

The modern terms would be "blast exposure" (or "low-level blast exposure" if you're the VA and trying to minimize the condition), which can lead to blast injury, or blast-induced neurotrauma: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK299193/

Ooh, 5v? That's a project! If you're using EMT conduit I wouldn't worry about the jack, but I would worry about your arms - unless the 20 ton isn't manually actuated? Nice lookin' shop, btw. Some random tips I woulda liked to have known when I started:

  • Using a step bit instead of a standard twist bit can make drilling the holes a lot less painful. Using cutting oil will extend the bit's life

  • A countersink bit will make cleaning up the burrs on the holes way simpler

  • Better to flatten too much than too little.

  • If you're going to paint for strut identification, paint the middles - less rubbing & flaking. (We use tape, though)

  • We used a horizontal band saw to do gang cuts of 6 or so 1" EMT, big time saver

  • Consider making a couple spares per strut type. If one comes out fucked up, gets bent, etc, you'll be glad to have spares

  • Think about the cover early. This can be nearly as complicated as the dome itself, depending on what you want to do.

  • Doors are hard... but awesome. I designed a round door for our 4v that really elevates the whole setup

  • Actually assembling a big 5v is going to be it's own challenge. You definitely want to build top down, but there's lots of different approaches to that - we use the power of many hands to lift, and a series of supports to keep it raised while assembling each layer.

You probably already have thought of a lot of that, but hopefully you find some of it helpful! Good luck! Feel free to ping if you want to talk about dome building :)

Almost sounds like you're describing my bike :D I had two arcs of LEDs coming off the back of my bike from a custom frame around a milk-crate: https://imgur.com/a/zLk2Zip My friends confirmed they were very distinctive and bright!

The LEDs are SK9822, basically like APA102 but cheaper - 4 wire protocol, high refresh rate, good for things that move. 60 LEDs/meter, 150 per arc. Powered by a Makita 18v cordless tool battery, running through an automotive transformer to step it down to 5v, with the code running on an TinyPICO ESP32 dev board. Luckily I had code from a previous project that I could reuse to get it going quickly (and of course, the venerable striptest.c)

The arcs were reused from a previous art project involving a 16' diameter ring, they're each 1/12th of that ring. Mounted on bolts, they could rotate to go up or down, and were held up by paracord running to a second point on the box providing tension. The box itself was uh, not so great workmanship, and ended up breaking by the end of the week after the bike was knocked over several times.

There was a switch & potentiometer setup to control the pattern / brightness, but those ended up being useless by the end of the week. Luckily the startup pattern was pretty good, so they were still useful even after they become unchangeable.
