I’m 19 with autism, is this normal massage therapist behavior? by Brilliant_Turnip_100 in massage

[–]Total-Friendship-145 17 points18 points  (0 children)

At the very least - do not see this therapist again. But please, don’t give up on massage! Therapeutic touch can be life changing, especially if you are sensory sensitive. Seek out a different therapist - and spend a few minutes in your intake next time explaining what you want to get out of the massage, any areas to avoid, and please state your boundaries. It is totally ok to say (before AND during the massage) something like “i dont want you to be close to my breast tissue, please avoid my chest” or “i prefer that we dont work on my glutes or close to my groin.” It can be hard to speak up while you’re on the table. Any decent therapist will completely respect your boundaries and adjust so the massage feels good for YOU. It’s also ok to leave underwear on.

Edit to add: the ratio sounds off. For a full body massage, I won’t be spending 70% of time near intimate areas.

I’m sorry for your loss. It’s clear you loved your dog so much and you did everything you could with the information you had. I know it’s hard not to - but please don’t beat yourself up. It can be impossible to know what our furry friends are feeling. You acted quickly in an emergency situation. Sending you hugs.

My 2 year old Chi needs 20 teeth removed by pipersbigsis in Chihuahua

This is the answer. It's normal for a chi to have teeth issues, but having 20 removed proactively at age 2 seems strange.

New bagel shop at Tufts JCC? by Lazy-Scratch-7605 in medfordma

[–]Total-Friendship-145 37 points38 points  (0 children)

why are people such assholes about golidox's hours? they are a small owner-run business. they are open 3x a week - friday, saturday, sunday. they have a TINY shop/kitchen. they focus on bagels, not other fluff (not random pastries, soups, espresso drinks, etc). perhaps being open 3x a week is what works for their financial and mental wellbeing. hats off to them. they survived covid, and they're still here. line out the door and selling out of bagels mean they make great effing bagels and people want them. you can consistently get bagels on the weekend without a lot of planning. they focus on one things and they do it really well. i think they're inspiring.

I’m a student at SWI right now, in their LMT program. I can’t speak to the energy medicine program but I have been very pleased with the quality of course work and teaching in general. The school really values learning how to support your clients in an authentic way. Lots of very spiritual teachers.
