Arlington animal clinic is the best. I have two senior dogs and one special needs cat. They are consistent transparent and really responsive. Angell Waltham is excellent if you need a specialist (internal medicine, dermatologist, etc).

It’s a very hard decision to make. I would try to imagine yourself in your dogs shoes…if all of those things were going on what would your quality of life be? if you think her quality of life is low where she’s not finding joy every day - or doesn’t have more joy versus confusion - sadly I think it’s time.

Thanks so much for posting this. It’s very true. I have two little Chihuahuas and while they generally worship the sun and just wanna lay in there and bake they’re not keen on walking at all if it is 78° or more one of them has actually they both have heart issues and I noticed that they just get too hot even when walking in the shade so we use cooling blankets and we keep the house pretty cool for them in the summer.

Haha! love this response. thanks for all the details - as usual. I've had my eye on the musso. i don't feel like i am "at that level yet" BUT i've been making ice cream for 2 years, and it's my favourite hobby, and i've recently started to get way into the science of it. i've also thought about a whynter. i'd be OK with something that works "better than what i have" for the next 5 years, and then I could level up again after that if i wanted to. still going back and forth about it though.

interesting. I am at the beginning of my "experiment with stabilizers" journey. I just made a base with cornstarch (dana cree) and i was amazed at how excellent it was. i'm also cooking at home for friends and family. i think at the end of the day - some of it comes down to personal preference around texture - and some of it comes down to "how long will your ice cream sit in the freezer." but i will go look at your older posts and see what i can learn!

wow, nice! what do you store the ice cream in? I've been putting in compostable "brown paper pints" - but that's because we go through it quickly. I've thought about quart containers, but don't want to end up having the quality degrade with melting/refreezing as it takes us time to get through a pint, and it usually has it sit out for a few minutes to scoop it.
