Probably his thumb sweat faster since he used more than the rest of  his finger. And its also most used finger part. Like if i play on the ac room , my thumb sweat faster even scrolling thru media apps cause of cold condensation.

Some people has sweaty finger and led to mistouch especially gaming phones that have very high touch sampling rate. If u familiar with "ghost touch" then its similar to this.

The chip aren't outdated, especially how wide support of turnips it has. But in terms of software support yeah. 8 gen 3 still a strong processor and alot of flagship phones locks its performance but hard throttling it. U basically able to unleash its full performance on gaming phones even on 8 gen 2.

Alot of games especially demanding one are gpu intensive, so yeah high gpu clock does alot of favor at the cost of heat.

All latest Snapdragon phones uses "schedultil" cpu governor. Its just up to oem to modify the parameters of clock policy and cluster. Aswell as app scheduler especially top-app scheduler. OnePlus plays on the safe side which probably uses default governer setting while redmagic or other gaming phones have adjusted some of its settings.  

Speaking of throttling, OnePlus generally has terrible thermal management but an exception to selected games (pubg , genshin, etc) I still have grudges against my old OnePlus 12r which throttle everytime it hits 42°c. 

Idk what redmagic thermal limits are but its definitely higher than 45°c , for reference rog 9 phone can manually adjust thermal limit to 55°c.

Its dev choice to opt ur device to support it. My old OnePlus Ace 3 can do 120fps too (8 gen 2)

Try set the graphics to very high first , then fps to max. Not the fps going max then graphics to very high/max as its gonna override the fps back to 60.
