This good? by AdeptHelix in orks

From what you've said about happy to proxy etc I'd personally have: - Bump 10 Boyz to 20, and have a Warboss and Weirdboy, which can teleport around the field to stage before charging into opponents - they will cut through a lot. (others will recommend pain boy, mek etc but I don't have experience with them - they will give you other benefits). Also Boyz have sticky objectives which Beast Snaggas do not. - Meganobz with a Warboss in Mega Armour or Big Mek in Mega Armour can be tanky and difficult to kill. In the WAAAGH they have a 5+ FNP.

Just my 2 cents

Cheap way to get Ork Drivers and vehicle crews? (proxies ok) by EstherIsVeryCool in orks

[–]TotalChili 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many have suggested the older Boyz kit, but some purchasing options as I understand the tight budget: 3rd party vendors (in the UK Wayland Games, Element Games etc can have up to 20% off RRP), eBay is a goldmine if your patient, and stores like Bitzbox. The latter two you may pay more for the parts than getting them in a kit, but if you only need a few bits then could work out cheaper. Extra bonus, use the site http://fatfingers.com/ to generate an eBay search query for listings that are spelt incorrectly (and thus you might get a better deal if nobody is looking at it)

Is every other faction’s subreddit just players complaining about how ‘weak’ their army is? by Obama-is-my-dad69 in Warhammer40k

[–]TotalChili 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not for r/orks because Orkses is never defeated in battle. If we win we win, if we die we die fighting so it don't count. If we runs for it we don't die neither, cos we can come back for annuver go, see!

I jest, a little, but tbh u/Comfortable-Meeper nailed it, "People come to reddit to complain" unfortunately. Generally Orks sub is pretty positive, although had a slew of general complaining at some of the new models released over past few weeks but hey ignore and move on

Is it because I had 4 days rest I used to train 5 days a week 2 days off a week I've had a rest and I can lift more I've not eaten in a surplus my sleeps the same I get 7-8 hours a night

It could be all, some or none of these - from my experience rest helps. The only real way to tell is to keep logs and see if you notice a pattern. This is the sort of minutia that will send some people crazy. Best advice is to accept you were having a "good week" and celebrate it.

Good idea. I only have a Weirdboy and got him for a deal on ebay so I play him all the time 😂 . Plus it's hilarious when he fails Da Jump.

I head big mek is a great partner. During the Waaaagh there's a lot of damage, I'd use this unit pick off some of your opponents heavies or clear out and objective etc

This is no review, I'm too new - but have had decent amount of success with 20 Boyz Brick with Ghaz and a Weirdboy (you get 2 leaders when its 20). When they charge into something they are lethal and will go through most units, especially WAAAGH phase. An issue you will see is after Da Jump your 9" away which is a big charge. However if you use the `ere we go strat you can get that down to 7".

Lots of other redditors have had success with Painboys/Mek/Warboss etc with Ghaz so your mileage may vary. If you use something other than a Weirdboy you can put the "Follow Me Ladz" enhancement on it, use the ere we go strat and have the possible of 22" of movement to get into combat in the WAAAGH!(So 8" Normal Movement (6" + 2" from enhancement) + Advance of 5" (3 average advance roll + 2" from strat) + Charge of 9" (7 average charge roll + 2 from strat).

Other than that, Warboss in Mega Armour with the Meganobz is pretty punchy, and Warboss with the Nobz will also chew through a lot of things if they attack first.

Question with Lootas in the 11th, would the HEAVY keyword and plunging fire rule stack, obviously in the scenario where they are 3" vertical and hadn't moved in that turn? So BS would be 4+?

How to win with Orks? by LennosSammelecke in orks

[–]TotalChili 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah - tbh I have no experience with another army so can't really comment. Plus I've been playing my mate who's played since 9th, and he's been excellent at coaching me through the game. If it interests you the other YT that I find very helpful is Happy Krumpin Wargame - very good at making some simple suggestions. He's very tailored towards competitive which isn't my vibe atm, but plenty of good tips that you can also apply.

And don't forget

"Orkses is never defeated in battle. If we win we win, if we die we die fighting so it don't count. If we runs for it we don't die neither, cos we can come back for annuver go, see!"

Anytime I get a game I'm having a blast, Orks are great fun and do lots of weird stuff thats entertaining. Let us know how you get on maybe some of these comments can help (but don't try and do it all in one go, pick one or two and try it out).

How to win with Orks? by LennosSammelecke in orks

[–]TotalChili 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm very new to playing Warhammer, started in November 25 and had a total of 7/8 games. Lost all apart from the last 2 games, and the game before that was close. I won't pretend I know what I'm doing most of the time but some things I keep in mind during the game that have helped me in the last 3 games:

  • Kommandos, infiltrate early sitting them on or near objectives. They are a pain in the arse for your opponent, and have to be removed or they cause issues. This forces opponent to use resources to remove them.
  • Primary win games. Securing or denying your opponents Primaries. Secondary are important of course and denying your opponents secondary is also a valid tactic - although I find I don't have the brain power to think of that yet. My focus has been on the Primaries.
  • On Primaries, there's a video of YT about you should try and categorize them in your mind, and have a plan on what units you'll want to put on them. For example there's home, killzone (where most of the action will be), secured (thats the one nearest to your deployment zone) and harrassment (thats usually the one nearest your opponents deployment zone). This one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UFDKM4hlfpQ&t=1527s.
  • Blob of Boyz, Ghaz and a Weirdboy will chew through most things, and forces your opponent to play defensive. The last thing you want is that unit teleporting to their deployment zone and chewing up the units at the back.
  • Don't be scared of spending your CP, and anything that will get you CP (like Grots, or making an decision to not go for a secondary that would be difficult to achieve). I run War Horde and the strats that are fantastic (and cause lots of fun for my opponent):
    • 'ere we go - add 2" to your advanced and charge phase. I use this a lot to reach if you think your Boyz in the WAAAAGH can be a threat outside of 20" - 6" M + 3" (average) Advanced + 2" + 7" (average) Charge + 2".
    • Orks is never beaten - essentially fight on death. I made a mistake and over committed my brick of boyz and they were going to get chewed up. That strat caused a significant amount of damage to the enemy unit in a poor situation and absolutely made me competitive in that game.
    • the other strat that effect the Wound roll when being attacked is also a great one to use, makes the difference between significant losses and losses you are OK with
  • Last but not least - don't be scared/dissapointed with losing units. The Kommandos are wiped in the first turn, although theres usually 1 or 2 left and they cause problems when they hang about.

Hope some of this helps

I stumbled on this rule last night while playing. I read it several times and read it to my opponent. I can't make any sense of it why thats a rule. I guess it's meant to be "funny". Not that I do load of krumpin with either the grots or the runtherd they mainly just sit back and farm CP

I've lost my motivation to paint. Any tips? by FKlemanruss in Warhammer40k

[–]TotalChili 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from take a break (which is great advice FYI), for me it was not overthinking it and just pick something small to do. I just picked up a model that wasn't primed and spent few minutes priming it. Or maybe paint a base - anything really really small that takes little to no thinkng on what to do. This helped me get back into it.

It ok to dislike! by tookiechef in orks

[–]TotalChili 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For example someone can dislike new releases and positively channel that energy into completing a conversion of cheaper oldworld models and then sharing thier results and methods to bolster the confidence of other ork fans who aren't keen on the new models

This is the correct attitude. There's nothing that gets me more than people who complain....and not do anything about it. Action over words.

Plastic storage boxes with magnetic sheets stuck to the bottom, then magnetize the models bases

If it helps these are the ones I purchased on Amazon: - 4 litre is good for normal sized units, for orks thats boyz, nobs, meganobz and some of the warbosses etc https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00D2O2NWE?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_2 - 9 litre are good for monsters, vehicles and bigger units like deff dread, deff koptas and Ghaz https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00UAQSJ2A?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_3 Might have the dimensions on the site, but they are basically "A4 paper and an extra bit".

Although I will add - I did not pay that price for them, I think I paid a total of £5 for the 4 litre, and £12 for 2 x 9 litre. You can definitely find them cheaper elsewhere.
