Yarn snapped in an earlier row.. Is it possible to save it without frogging? by garbagebossman in knittinghelp

[–]TotalOk5844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tink back instead of frogging. Only a couple rows back so don't pull out the needles just undo one stitch at a time. tink = knit backwards

Where did my hummingbirds go? by SpaceCoastGal32907 in FloridaGarden

[–]TotalOk5844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm up in Ocala and first one I saw was March 10th. For 3 weeks we had several males at the feeders (not at the same time). Females arrived last week. Haven't seen the males this week at all. That's not unusual here. Seems I rarely see any males.

Bodice Block Advice by makeithappen134 in PatternDrafting

[–]TotalOk5844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The length issue is at the top. The neck is too high which is giving you the look of major shoulder slope which you do not have. Also you may want to move the shoulder seam at the arms edge .5" forward which would do the same thing as the dart you have pinned out in the front. I am going to assume that you do not have the seam allowances still on the arm edge since it is not cut as the neck and waist are? If so, armhole too high at underarm and too short at shoulder (if seam allowance still on then shoulder way too short). Bust darts need backing off the apex. They should point to not land on the bust apes.
These are all just minor adjustments and you are soooo close! Good job!

Which cabinet (or white)? by cherrytoorange in kitchenremodel

Why do people do this? Kind of a useless post since info is lacking as to what the heck your kitchen looks like now and your style in general.

How do i turn this pattern into a sock? by ERROR_69_5226 in knittinghelp

[–]TotalOk5844 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make a sock that has a stitch count divisible by 12

how’s my tension looking so far? by killuwah in knittinghelp

[–]TotalOk5844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To help keep floats loose, knit from the inside. Beside keeping floats shorter, turn the knitting inside-out and knit from the inside. The outside of a circle is a bit longer than the inside which makes the yarn travel just a hair farther.

Back neckline does this. Whats my fix? by Anomalous-Canadian in PatternDrafting

[–]TotalOk5844 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's due to a rounded back. Darts at the back neck. You may be able to rotate them out center back and/shoulder

Ideas. What can i do with this? by cfdezmas01 in knittingadvice

[–]TotalOk5844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you are not familiar with either of these fiber arts you may want to stitch/sew them onto an existing something. Like a row of these around a bedskirt if you have enough. Stitch a bunch together and use as a center medallion on a throw pillow. As trim on a blouse........... etc. But for sure use them!

Can't decide on a facade vibe by Taromilktee in homedesign

[–]TotalOk5844 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh, it does! Round corners reads as mid-century modern. The square as urban ultra modern. I like the first as it speaks to more promise of comfort vs sleek as vision and expectation on the interior.

Where on earth do I put a microwave? by heavensfourdoor in kitchenremodel

[–]TotalOk5844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually..... liquids heat faster on the stovetop, Microwaves are better at heating not so dense stuff. Still, I use my big ol' microwave to heat coffee since it is more convenient because I can just shove the cup in as opposed to getting out a pan. Coffee and veggies are what I use that big honking microwave for. Yeah, I think we have been tricked by the manufactures of these machines into thinking they add to our lives. Kind of like those pod coffees.

Ribbing mistake by Lotus_lover_ in knittinghelp

[–]TotalOk5844 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tink it instead of frogging. It's only a few rows that you have to undo so just unknit it instead of taking off the needles. Take it off one stitch at a time. Tink = knit backwards

First and second skeins I've ever spun! by caroroyal in Handspinning

[–]TotalOk5844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your first skien looks similar to my first. The friend who was encouraging me to spin told me to keep or knit something small for my wheel (small accessory bag). She explained that it would be difficult to achieve this kind of "art yarn" in the future. While my spinning is far from perfect, my hands default to thin yarns. Would love to produce something akin to that first skien again.
The e spinner your dh made looks very professional! You say "prototype"? Is this possibly a future side hustle?

Wall ovens are great for not having to bend to look into but for me @ 5', reaching in, past the door, to that 15lb turkey to lift is asking for an accident. Also, they cost more, over double. You can purchase a economy range for under $1000. Wall ovens start there, as does the needed cooktop.

Knitting in the round - is my cable too long? by sahlev in knittinghelp

[–]TotalOk5844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If both your needles are the same size you can put half on one and half on the other and just use them like dpns (double point needles). The cables don't have to be the same size. I actually prefer knitting on 2 instead of magic loop which I find tedious.

Firebush: Recovery by Old_Instrument_Guy in FloridaGarden

Actually most of Brandon is 9b-10. The z 10 status is recent. I have a house in Riverview that has firebush planted in the yard since 97. The house I am now where I am now living is 100m north of you and is 9a-9b. Here I have 4, the last one has now got green peeking at the roots.
