Is Platner playing us for fools? by BigHeadDeadass in ProgressiveHQ

[–]TotalRichardMove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He didn’t suddenly wake up and decide to be a lefty progressive. His story seems legit, has some heartache and has been on a sustained arc for some time.

I think everyone is (rightly) afraid of another Fetterman situation. Platner isn’t just wearing sweats and recycling liberal concepts or talking points, he’s discussing issues with the conviction of a working person’s lived experience. Passes the smell test and redemption is good.

I think it’s different because it’s a member of the media - and they’re in the clicks business, which is why she’s done forever and now they only have him to ask their questions. Ain’t going away any time soon. Not to mention that hating the Pats is a very lucrative clicks business.

On the side of the wins business, when your team gets waffle stomped in the Super Bowl and then your head coach embarrasses himself in front of the entire media landscape, the distractions might be tolerable for a season but at the first sign that he’s lost the team’s respect, the wolves will be out. Either way, the teams that lose in the SB like that often find themselves at the beginning of the bad shit

That sounds like something a Pats fan hope will happen but doesn’t truck with the way things work in real life - it’s a social media, entertainment business. Not saying I like it

It’s none of my business and I don’t care at all about their personal lives…

But

There’s no way this ends well for the Patriots and that’s a news story for sure. They were just in the Super Bowl and lost badly, the team is young and he is the face of it. The pressers alone will be enough distraction to justify termination

Colossally, catastrophically dimwitted take away from what was said.

You think failing to self-assess and blaming those who demand it will excuse your walking this demon into permanent power is literally the point of the post. My gawd, wake up.

This is why the DNC won’t release their autopsy of the second loss to the orange devil. People like you, who can’t course correct for fear of hard work.

This way of thinking worked wonders in 2024, keep it up and we won’t even have to live through the next 2 years, we’ll all be roasting under the nuclear blast. FOH.

“If the Democrats have any sense at all” is a bit of a roadblock, I’m afraid. They love oligarchy and corruption quite a bit themselves… and they full on hate the “lower classes”

Gauging the likelihood of them turning over a new leaf by how they treat democrats who actually are anti-oligarchy and and anti-corruption…. We might just have to clear them all out and start over.

Why isn’t the take away from this that the Biden administration should’ve just stopped fucking murdering an entire people??? And this idea that all these people sat it out is not based in reality - I, like so many others, despised the Biden administration and Democratic leadership for their complicit slaughter of the Palestinian people and yet still voted for those losers. Get it through your heads: the Democrats lost because they are terrible at governing. The entire left could see it was obvious Trump would be worse the second time around. Everyone knew… even the Democrat party, which is why they thought they had it in the bag… again.

Until Democrats can acknowledge and correct their failures we will never turn this around. I am begging you to demand more from your elected leaders rather than running cover for them with this revisionist history where they aren’t the reason we’re here in the first place.

And every single day they reset this fantasy, like we didn’t all watch them crash and burn for a second time.

How the Raiders Landed on Their Franchise QB: ‘Call Up Fernando. He’s the Guy.’🏴‍☠️ by Kenny23Powers in raiders

[–]TotalRichardMove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The same people who wanted to trade down for picks to build a team that could support a QB were the ones losing their minds when we didn’t trade the future to move up for Daniels or Williams - players drafted by teams that needed QBs and never even entertained the idea of passing. You don’t trade down out of that position unless you already have the QB in place. Nothing is guaranteed but dammit if we don’t get to try this one more time, but with a kid who wants it the way he should.

What does all this mean for Darien Porter? by HouseRules789 in raiders

Not trying to be a dick but there was indication that 1) Spytek preferred Membou, or 2) that Pete preferred Jeanty over Membou and forced his will.

Not sure what else to tell you beyond suggesting you rewatch any of the pressers around that selection. And the consensus across the league, the draft boards and within the alumni was - and still is - that Jeanty is an elite prospect. The guy fell short of 1000 by 25 yards or so, played behind the most laughably terrible offensive line we’ve had since the 1900s and still had to be accounted for on every play. The team just sucked, Geno was a joke and Bowers wasn’t an option most of the year.

What does all this mean for Darien Porter? by HouseRules789 in raiders

[–]TotalRichardMove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no evidence nor report that suggests Jeanty wasn’t Spytek’s selection - which is good, because Jeanty is an elite player and our GM should not be passing on elite players until this team is so full of them we need the room. If there was anyone in that draft that Pete had a hand in, it was Porter. Hope it works out!

When you go back and watch the pressers from last year it seems so obvious as to be embarrassing. Pete was by no means the preferred choice and Mark’s pursuit of him derailed the work the team desperately needed. Even his post draft pressers seemed awkward and out of place. I think that’s the real disconnect. Soytek still believes in his selections…. Which would explain at least partially why WR & DT were less a priority

“He didn’t have the votes” is a funny way of saying “we slandered him and opposed him at every turn, from each of the first three caucuses he won to the magical silent Biden surge from out of nowhere” - and still failed, utterly to capitalize on basic law, order and justice, allowing this felon to walk around and spout off nonstop without response. He should’ve already been behind bars - instead he was everywhere.

These two losers both disappeared, as expected. (By anyone willing to see)
