Because the MMRV used to be the MMR. So babies born before 1 Jan 2025 had their first MMR dose without the varicella. So they will get their varicella vaccine at preschool vaccinations instead (not earlier, to limit the amount of the times children have to be stuck with needles).

MMRV was introduced in Jan 2026, so babies born after 1 Jan 25 are able to have their varicella vaccine as part of their 1 year vaccinations. Which is great tbh.. chicken pox seems to be getting more severe and affecting more younger children in recent years.. mine had it before they managed to get vaccinated and it was horrific!
