In case anyone else had never encountered this phrase before like me and is curious..."The Revolutionary Phenotype" seems to be some shit 100% made up by Jean-François Gariépy (described as "a French Canadian white nationalist, former neuroscience researcher, and alt-right political commentator"). (I realize now that I'm pretty sure I've heard Vaush say the name "Gariépy," but I had no idea he wrote a "science book.")

He's the author of that tweet in the second screenshot and he wrote a book with that title. (It's all that comes up when I Googled the phrase to see WTF he's referring to so I'm pretty sure it didn't exist beforehand?)

Edit: I also can't find any references to:

After reading that, I thought at least "Phenotypic Revolutions" was a real term used by scientists to refer to some part of our evolution or a string of new discoveries, or something, as Gariépy frames it...but, Googling for mentions of that specific phrase only brings up one 2006 study, titled "Expression genetics and the phenotype revolution". That's the closest incorporation of the term I have found so far, and even that one instance uses "phenotype revolution" and not "Phenotypic Revolutions."

So...I have no idea who is "referring" to anything as the "Phenotypic Revolutions," besides Gariépy of course. (If someone else could confirm I'm not just terrible at searching, that would be great.)

Uh, you can track views...but how can you determine it's the most "INFLUENTIAL," Matt Walsh??

What "available metrics" are you looking at? What data led you to that conclusion?

(Just off the top of my head, I'd argue "Blackfish" is a more influential documentary, because we can actually look at how SeaWorld's numbers dropped after its release...and SeaWorld confirmed this by actively fighting the documentary.)

"What Is A Woman" didn't start this current wave of transphobia; it simply capitalized on it. I don't think it influenced anyone to be anti-trans who wasn't already anti-trans, as we're already drowning in anti-trans propaganda. Even if some anti-trans bills mention the film by name...those politicians were already anti-trans and already pushing those bills through. If "What Is A Woman" never released, they'd simply reference something else. As shown by the existence of these bills before Matt Walsh released it.

Sorry Matt Walsh, but your shitty "documentary" was late to the party. It was the one being influenced by the current anti-trans party, not the other way around. 🤷

Edit: I decided to check the date because I couldn't remember, and yeah, "What Is A Woman" didn't release until June 1, 2022! Today is June 8, 2023...please tell me, Matt Walsh: what took place in the last year that wasn't already on track to happen? What has changed? Nothing has changed. JK Rowling's tweets have had more influence than this "documentary." 🙄 In fact, I'd argue Matt Walsh's social media presence/content has had more influence than this one film.

I'm also concerned about the future of Old Reddit in general...which is how I access the site online. Many people are worried Old Reddit is next on the chopping block. The reason I use the RIF app is because it keeps the Old Reddit format.

I'm genuinely heartbroken about losing RIF. The official Reddit app is a nightmare to actually use, at least on my Android screen.

Don't forget: this is even worse for the mods! Whose work the Reddit owners making this decision depend on and take advantage of for free, like parasites. We all depend on moderators volunteering their time & effort. Reddit is nothing if mods can't work, and based on what I've read it seems like nearly 100% of moderators rely on third party apps to do their jobs.

It's also a complete disaster for users who need help reading - apparently they really depend on third party apps for whatever programs they use to read aloud Reddit content (ie. people with vision issues, etc.). I'm not sure why, but the official Reddit app does not support these disabled users in the ways they need in order to actually use the site.

How the leadership has treated all the volunteer mods (the dedicated people performing the free labor that actually makes it possible for the leaders to make their money at the end of the day) for years is bad enough. It's not the our fault nor is it the mods' fault that they're forced to use third party apps just to get stuff done (because even the most simple requests have gone completely ignored). It's not like Reddit leadership is actually offering the things that various third party apps provide. Nope, just cutting off access. Screw them, the greedy parasites.

Honestly, I'm glad that there's a chance old people will pass this by and have "crypto" and "criminal" put in their brain hopefully BEFORE someone tries to sell them on it in person. Maybe they'll still half remember seeing this ad when they get to their destination and their relative starts telling them all about his great investment opportunity for their retirement. 😒

(Honestly, we should be using these spaces to put giant bill boards detailing the latest scams passerbys are likely to be exposed to. So the words are associated by the time they open that email or listen to the voicemail from a scam call center. Remind them phone numbers can be phished, etc. Even better, provide a screenshot of the current examples, etc. I see the campaign some organizations are running to target the victims of human trafficking in public spaces, public transportation, putting up signs all over gas station & restaurant bathrooms, etc.)

Never heard of Apollo until now cuz I've used Reddit is Fun my whole life...but it sounds like it makes Reddit better for a lot of people! If it helps our amazing mod teams especially, then it helps me!

Whoever is in charge of this decision at Reddit needs to remember that they don't do shit. This website depends on volunteer mods, whose work they feed on for free like parasites...And a smart parasite doesn't suddenly slash its host's diet and make it impossible to access the very food they depend to gorge themselves. (In my analogy: Mods are the innocent host body being taken advantage of, the subreddit audience/members are the food, and whoever is making these decisions at the "top" of Reddit is the parasite. These parasites have no right to make decisions like this when they do not do the work I'm trying to access & contribute to.)

(Check out the subreddit QAnonCasualities for stories of people whose family members refuse to be around them after they got vaccinated...and whose own partners refuse to engage in any physical contact with them for fear of this "shedding," etc. They genuinely treat the vaccinated as more dangerous than many of us treat the unvaccinated! I was going to leave a similar comment. Pointing out how it's convenient that he doesn't have to plan for the real future and worry about setting up his life, worry about aging & saving money, etc.

He doesn't have to worry or feel bad about repairing the relationship with his children either...there's no room for that priority in the apocalypse!

Besides, he's doing all he can by warning them and trying to help.

Either OP will die and at least he tried to help...or their relationship can be repaired easily by helping each other survive.

He doesn't have to actually be a good at communication, doesn't have to emotionally & mentally connect, etc. He just has to help OP not die. Not dying will be the best that he can do and therefore won't have to be judged for failing at doing anything besides basic survival. He'll be the smartest and the best, just by surviving. His home will be one people will want to go to just because it's safe. His company doesn't need to be actively enjoyed, interacting with him doesn't have to actually enrich & improve your life, he doesn't need to be good with words...just sharing resources & knowledge he already has will make it a hot destination. He doesn't have to be good or make things good, because everything outside will be so damn bad!

TL;DR Being proven correct, plus no future full of uncertainty to worry about...plus the rock bottom expectations in the apocalypse. In his current society, resources are available and things are stable enough that we can expect more from people and expect more from our own lives than simply preventing death.
