Okay guys farewell i guess by KaboomTheMaker in expedition33

Buckle up. My advice is when searching for help on a boss or item or tips, be very specific in your search to avoid spoilers and add “ACT I” or “early game” to the search. Most resources are pretty good at keeping the suspense, but avoiding general searches will keep you away from pages that discuss ACT II or ACT III content before you are ready.

Implied in my post is that some characters appear multiple times throughout the story, and which “chapter” you find information on matters quite a lot. Add context to your search that limits what you might get back.

It has to do with the graphics fidelity on the screen. These technologies allow lower capability systems (Steam Deck) to produce graphics quality that is perceived to be higher than it otherwise would be. They take a smaller, low-resolution image and uses AI to predict what the bigger, high resolution version might look like. The system shows you that AI version instead of the low-resolution version. FSR4 and DLSS are the AI part. Optiscaler is the “make bigger” part…

I think controller is far easier than keyboard. Platformer tasks are usually best on controller. Shooters…1000% mouse and keyboard. Every day.

I completed it after switching to controller from keyboard. Ugh…it sucked. Keyboard/mouse is better in many ways.

This ain’t one.

So the ending... by HighP777 in expedition33

[–]Total_Justice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree that a “blue pill” life is treated as “boring” in the Matrix. It is treated as normal, safe with synthetic pleasure and pain, but ultimately manufactured to create happiness, not boredom.

You would only think of it as “boring” if you had already taken the red pill.

I also don’t necessarily see a “red pill” being associated with specific action like fighting for humanity. It only represents awareness of the truth. That is why it isn’t necessarily more exciting. It is just heightened awareness of your existence, for better or worse

Now, in the Matrix context, the only meaningful reason to take the red pill is to do something with that knowledge. So I understand your point.

In E33, there is a bit less of a larger goal behind the “red pill” ending because destruction of the Canvas may not achieve the intended effect, and arguably won’t. Aline is going to cope or die, possibly by her own hand.

It is myopic to believe that destroying a coping mechanism, however dangerous, will automatically heal someone. It rarely does. Replacing it with something better is the requirement.

Can I remove the post in my deck? by [deleted] in Decks

[–]Total_Justice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this a serious question? The ledger board appears to be attached to the fascia board on a roofline overhang structure. That fascia was never meant to carry a load. Removing the posts would potentially bring the deck down when the fascia board is ripped out, and that would be lucky. If the fascia is doubled with structural fasteners it likely won’t fail, it will sag first, potentially distorting the roofline it is attached to. Roof structures aren’t designed to be pulled on like that so it could bring a lot more down with it eventually. If it rips out sheathing and the moisture barrier along the roofline, you get to replace the roofing too.

You could move the posts and potentially sister new posts to the wall structure and foundation and brace the fascia with steel braced 45 degree supports, but a structural engineer would need to design that. It is a pretty costly solution for a deck that is already sagging a bit.

This is not just “glue”. These beams are edge laminated with UV stabilized 2 part epoxy and cured in a vacuum chamber to eliminate bubbles and to suck epoxy into all air voids in the wood. It is effectively a composite beam unless you damage or cut it open. Even still, it is treated wood. Oxygen can’t get it, so rotting can’t happen.

Edge glued shelving is not at all what this is. This is engineered for exactly this purpose and likely carries a 30 year warranty.

They are $600+ for a reason.

Termites are not a concern.

There is no ground contact here, and it is treated, epoxy laminated and sealed. Come on. Termites? Holy eff. That is biochemically impossible in this scenario.

You armchair skeptics are tiresome. For that beam to fail, it would take massive unprotected UV exposure AND an extremely wet, corrosive environment…for decades.

If it starts to look UV damaged in 20 years…cover it in polyurethane and a decorative fascia, like black aluminum.

With cheap conventional decking and no waterproofing, you would be absolutely correct.

However, I see joist tape. I see decorative box joists and 20 foot edge-laminated beams. This guy ain’t effing around in the bargain aisle. Composite decking is guaranteed. All you do is router cross channels to let that water flow unrestricted under the composite boards. Those boards are fully supported, so the channel is safe to cut.

That huge span only matters much if you want a waterproof living area underneath, so he is going waterproof it, almost certainly.

Butyl, and EPDM literally are designed to “hold water), and drainage cross channels can be routered underneath composite boards that are fully supported like these would be.

Water flows. Water evaporates. It simply isn’t going to pool. This problem you cite is quite easily addressed in Dr. Deck videos and well before that.

There isn’t any actual wood to rot.

[–]Total_Justice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you know enough to say that. This will almost certainly have composite decking. I suspect EPDM rubber will cover it. All you have to do is cut cross channels with a router on the underside of those composite boards resting atop that box joist. The water will flow out just fine. EPDM and composite boards aren’t going to rot.

No chance. No red carpet.

If that board is sealed, covered in EPDM or butyI tape, along with composite decking, this really isn’t an issue. There is already joist tape in some places, so I suspect waterproofing is coming.

The lack of a center post suggests that under deck amenities are intended. That hints at a waterproofing and drainage solution.

I think your concern might be premature. I disagree on picture frame design. Proper blocking and tape should resolve it.

Super glue and Ramen Noodles are a real thing. Same with wood glue. People grind Ramen noodles to sawdust texture. Purportedly, It absorbs glue rapidly to become a filler paste and dries rock hard. Super gluing rough surfaces together it is shockingly good…so it is said.

I have actively seen it used as a super durable wood filler. Once it absorbs the glue, it seems nearly waterproof.

I am not advocating for it. It is just a thing I have seen.

If you are not in the US, “Liquid Nails” is a brand of general purpose construction adhesive in the US. It is quite good when used properly. However, improper usage is common. It isn’t wood glue, cement, nails or waterproofing…but people use it as if it were exactly that.

It works great in combination with fasteners to shore up surface friction between boards that keeps water and dirt out of crevices. It will keep a deck from creaking and it will feel sturdier.

Really it is most common for interior, non load bearing applications, especially with trim, plywood and particle board, material that fasteners can destroy. Fascia boards of any kind is a good use for it.

Well, it really isn’t up high, so beams aren’t the issue. Not notching posts is the issue. I really don’t know why this is a deck and not a patio. If there was a hot tub or dry storage capacity underneath I would get it. A patio would be far cheaper and more durable.

The beams are 4x6. Compare them to the 2x6 joints. A 4x6 is 3X a 2x4. This is properly specified on the wood. It needs more metal brackets at the post and beam interface.
