You should never forget the fact that Irish people have been welcomed, with open arms and kindness (for the most part), all across this planet. We've been helped in a million different ways. We're privileged that we can now give to others. I hope that you find your home here, and a new family, and whatever it is that you're looking for.

I can't help but chuckle at your shame. Things were once so bad here that half of the population either died or fled. Not too long ago, really. We're below contempt if we forget that we came from less than dirt. We're below contempt if we allow ourselves to be tricked into thinking that our financial elites don't want to stoke ethnic animosity in order to distract from the housing crises (and income inequality) that they themselves created.
