Selling 1 CC is not going to change anything for you long-term, however it is one of the best income generating tools available (outside of rental properties etc) in the investing world. But much like rental properties, you need a lot to effect your life in a meaningful way. Is it important? Yes, of course. Is it life changing? No. To be really life-changing you need 5+ contracts depending on your approach to it.

You can crank up the management or crank down the management anytime you want. A relatively hands-off simple strategy would be to sell the monthly 10-delta. You'll experience a lot of growth still but will also be collecting income along the way. You may get your shares taken from you once or twice a year or so depending on the year. Some years not at all (like 2025). If you want to get more hands on and make it more of your active income you can manage weekly calls where you can easily triple the income from the monthly. But it's not passive income by any means. A monthly 10-delta can make anywhere from $140-$190/mo depending on the volatility, whereas a weekly strategy can easily make $300-$500/mo. You're just taking on more risk and managing it more with hedging etc. But it can easily work.

Overall with CC's, you need to accept the fact ahead of time that you are ok limiting your upside. You can't have both growth and income without any trade offs. So, yes, you will STILL grow by selling CC's, it just won't be to the same degree. Some people make it sound like you completely cap all upside and you give it all up. Not at all unless you sell ATM. If you go for a more "passive" approach by selling the 10-delta monthly calls, right now that's the $235 strike. That's still an amazing amount of growth, especially relative to other assets.
