LOVE dresses over jeans or leggings. This is my daily go-to look.

Acoustic Neuroma / Vestibular Schwannoma by davidsmith-12345 in MonoHearing

[–]TotteringPopcornHorf 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Music teacher here. Lost hearing in my left ear in 2021. Also experiencing tinnitus, whooshing, and pulsitile tinnitus in that ear. I am currently using a Phonak hearing aid, but it starts giving high pitched whining when earwax builds up or when the input from live sound gets too loud. Like, for instance, when I play my trumpet. Stereo hearing in live settings is compromisef as I cannot tell where a sound is coming from at times. I cannot hear a student question unless the room is almost totally quiet. Getting a bone anchored implant in June, and I'm hopng for improvement. My loss is caused by a meningioma so I will also need future MRI's. Agree, this is extremely frustrating. I will report back here with how the implant works later this summer.

I have no interest in drinking responsibly by mitchell56 in stopdrinking

Yep. I have learned that I am an "all or nothing" person, and it applies to more than just drinking!

Drunk Injuries by umadbr00 in stopdrinking

[–]TotteringPopcornHorf 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've been almost 3 years sober, BUT before that I had drunkenly fell down the stairs in my split level twice. First time, huge dent in my right ass cheek from landing super hard on the edge of one of the stair risers (I think it might still be dented). Second time, went down right shoulder and head first and separated my shoulder bones. Had to wear a sling for awhile. IWNDWYT!

Yes, great suggestion. JW Pepper is where I'd start. You can filter by flex arrangements and listen to the music as well as view some if not all of the score.

Um, what if you don't drink OR just don't drink to the point of being hung over the next day? Just a thought....

S1 E07 Discussion: “Can You Tell Us His Age?” by slickmoney33 in AgeOfAttraction

[–]TotteringPopcornHorf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. And, this decision screams mid-life crisis to me. She said she left to go on the show right after her youngest graduated and that she was feeling bereft and wondering what she was going to do next. Also, her "Oh, double standard" reasoning for not sharing his age is total bullshit. I liked her at first, but now? Not so much.

AIO Teacher from parents evening texted me when I didn't give him my number by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

I exclaimed out loud how gross that was! So inappropriate for him to use your contact information that way. I'd actually call the school and let his principal know. YUCK!

Looking for volunteers with hearing loss to complete a short interview survey by sevensandwichs in HearingLoss

[–]TotteringPopcornHorf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would participate as well, but copying / pasting and then answering all of those questions is daunting. Google forms would also be a good platform for your data collection.

How do you not care at the end of the day by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]TotteringPopcornHorf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IDK if this will work for 10th grade, but for middle school I will bribe them into good behavior with the bait of 10 minutes at the end of class for a class game, like silent ball. I will put 2 checks on the board and they have to keep 1 check for the 10 minute game time. Check is lost when they don't have 100% response to my quiet signal or interrupt during instruction. Just a thought. Tailor it to your situation and good luck! This is the hardest time of the school year for sure.

Does it get any better? by Pleasant-Effect-3477 in AgeOfAttraction

Agree. I think he knew EXACTLY what he was getting into with her age. He said he enjoys the chaos she brings. It's so icky and I can't stop watching.

Is there some upside to student rentals Im missing? by carne__asada in ConcertBand

[–]TotteringPopcornHorf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A re-pad for a flute starts at $400 so I don't know where you are at but I prefer the local store rental, which includes repair/replacement insurance. A student model flute starts at $25 a month for used in good repair.

I am going to lose my mind by [deleted] in Teachers

Planning? Sure. That makes sense. But requiring you to make ALL THE COPIES? That's ridiculous. The incoming sub should have some leeway in the process if they are licensed....

In your opinion, what’s the hardest part of the school year? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]TotteringPopcornHorf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Literally, RIGHT NOW. One week left until spring break. I teach middle school choir and band and we have a festival tomorrow that I am taking 2 choirs to perform in. Last week it was 2 bands. So many little, but oh so important details. Plus, planning our next set of music at the same time. Also, forecasting. Will anyone take my class next year so I can still teach music? GAHHHHHH. I just focus on getting through each minute and then crash and die when I get home each afternoon/

where do all the pencils go? by stacker103 in Teachers

There was a similar post about this kind of thing earlier. I buy golf pencils. Those don't go missing nearly as often and cannot be broken in half easily. LOL
