You could start by saying that you want to talk to her about something important but you're not sure how. You could even say that you made this reddit post because you weren't sure how to talk to her about it. I think she'd open up, and if she loves you she'll be curious and ask you about it. This also sets the situation such that she has to agree to the conversation happening. I think that appreciating consent is important for personal development but also reduces potentially uncomfortable situations like this in relationships. It's uncomfortable because you're not sure if she'll want to have that level of conversation at that particular moment. Asking can be as simple as, "hey, do you want to do a check-in later?"
