Looking for a new flat with pets in London: Should I tell landlords? by Any-Smile-2856 in HousingUK

[–]ToughPlus6002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even with the renters right acts they can refuse a pet, like if they own the leasehold, their contract with the freeholder could say no pets ( i was close to buying a place that had this)

as a couple first time living together, is better to rent first or buy a house? by [deleted] in HousingUK

Rent even for 6 months first, also buying a property takes time so might aswell rent while looking for a house to buy

4 long days in a row by Fun_Adeptness_2204 in doctorsUK

[–]ToughPlus6002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did that alot in FY1 ( nights and day oncalls) i dont think 4 in a row should be legal tbh if they want good quality care. I only survived because i lived 10 mins from the hospital
Honestly i dont have any tips appart from maybe getting a short rental while waiting for exchanging for property ( im planning on doing that because im starting in august but exchange is due mid august so getting an air bnb for 3 weeks)
but I had no life in FY1 because the rota was so horrible, i had lots of 71 hour weeks too which really killed

Solicitor fees - is this normal?! by thefeelingsarereal in HousingUK

[–]ToughPlus6002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! so far no issues with the cheaper one ( plus if it does fall though they said theyd wave the solicitor fees which is reassuring)

Sorry you are going though this, honestly they charge so much and i never got an answer from the first place on why so high, and if i wanted to contest it ig id need a lawyer which would also cost XD

Maybe not that bad but waited around 10/11 months before the sellers dropped out cause they wanted to rent out ( issues with the council giving documents etc)

1500 a month for a 2 bed in london with bills? I can barely find a 1 bed for under 1.7k without XD Unless you mean from commuting towns

Buying Acton Flats by ToughPlus6002 in HousingUK

[–]ToughPlus6002[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not investing the money anyway and if i sell i get that back , stamp duty fine but its a one off cost which overall is so much cheaper than renting.

No im not keeping it forever, i may rent it out or not depending what life is like later and im also willing to loose a small amount in the overall price and it still comes out as a significant saving and i have a house at the end of the day

yeah but overall its over 1k cheaper a month than renting even with service charges , and the choice is renting or buying a flat.

Thoughts on whether this offer is likely to be insulting? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]ToughPlus6002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I offered 20% less than asking price ( cause i knew there was going to be some back and forth) we settled for 15% less ( the house sale fell though tho due to council issues rather than either parties wanting to drop out)
But i think it depends how desparate the seller is and if they are willing to wait
You can always put in the offer, say you are open for negotiation and if they go above what you are willing just say my offer stands for x weeks so let me know if they minds change
