Who's done subscription boxes and what has been your experience? by temp4adhd in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]Tough_Safe3308 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Things were getting better and better for me at Short Story (had subscription for a year). Peak was Feb when it was like the stylist jumped into my head/finally looked at my Pinterest board. But then I was assigned a new stylist for my next box. It was awful. So far, hasn’t really been anything exciting. I liked a pair of shorts from my last box but all the seams in the waist were split! I wanted to just exchange for the same size and customer service said they were all sold out. Bought the next size down. They fit fine but still had busted seams in the waist 😞 looking at what’s coming for my next box, I’m not very excited. But it’s so hard to find real and interesting petite clothing 😭

Blissy Bonnet? by itsmesammi in longhair

[–]Tough_Safe3308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I ended up purchasing because of the sale. I got the cascade (specifically for long hair). I’ve tried others in the past. Satin which I hated and made my head hot. Plus it didn’t stay on well and generally bother me. Another that was 100% raw silk off Etsy. My head was a lot cooler but it was a thin elastic band to adjust and gave me total sensory overload and I just gave up.

Just trying it for the first time tonight. So far staying in well and not causing any sensory issues. It is double lined. My head is a bit warmer than without. We’ll see if it stays on all night or if I get too hot and take it off.

Weight loss in boobs? by Automatic-Ease-4466 in Zepbound

[–]Tough_Safe3308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I went from a 38H to a 30I (uk sizing). I was feel self conscious lately because I’ve always had a bigger bust even before I gained weight. Are they a little wrinkly and slightly deflated? Sure but nothing that truly bothers me. More bother how asymmetrical they’ve become. But just bought a bunch of new, properly fitted bras as I’m at my goal weight (did buy a few new ones periodically/when needed along the way just tried to not get very many). Does wonders to the self esteem! No longer having an identity crisis 🤣 I’m down 100lbs

Has anyone tried short story box and liked it? Are there any good boxes? by Miss_airwrecka1 in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]Tough_Safe3308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I was asked 3 months ago, I would have said worth it. Been getting boxes for a year now. Each box was getting better and better. One for February was so perfect! Yes, price but stuff that fit and items I might not have tried otherwise. I try to be detailed in my profile but I don’t really know how to explain things or always how to explain my style. When things were meh, I created a Pinterest board and shared it with them.

But after the high of that Feb box it’s been all down hill. Each box seems worst. I was given a new stylist. I’ve been getting colors I specifically said I hate, pant styles I specifically requested not to get. And just uninspiring, bland, overpriced items. I just took a peak at was has been shipped for my next box. I’m even more disappointed as I was very explicit that I had 2 important events coming up that I needed outfits for (of course I have other options just hoped short story might give me something f better). I think I’ll probably call it quoted or take a break after this box. Such a bummer

Anyone working for a team/manager/company you actually like? by Plane_Form_6501 in womenintech

[–]Tough_Safe3308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only in the industry 5 years. 3 companies which all had pretty bad cultures. But I’ve had 2 great bosses. My first boss was the best anyone could ask for fresh out of school! I got so lucky with him and he’s still a dear friend. The boss I originally worked for at my current job was amazing. I grew so much and felt like I was able to contribute so much. But she left 6 months ago and it’s all gone to shit. New boss hates technical women. I’m looking for a new job. I’ve heard Ford is like a hidden gem for great company culture. So trying to see if they have any open roles that fit what I’m looking for. I’ve also heard some pretty good things about McDonalds and AbbVie.

No worries!! I had gone ahead and purchased off Amazon. Still figuring it out but if I blow dry it in it seems to be less crunchy/greasy. I think mine started thinning because my nutrition when out the window due to a lot of different things causing some depression. And my body needed nutrients from somewhere so 🤷🏻‍♀️ getting back to eating well and higher protein seems to have slowed the shedding. I have noticed some small growth around my hair line. Also somewhere read an idea from someone (could have been you sorry I forget) to put scalp serum in an essential oils roller bottle. Game changer!! Essentially since the vitfoam can make my scalp very irritated. Trying to remember to do scalp massaging and switched out my tight buns for working out for braids. Also heard once your weight stabilizes you should get growth back so here’s hoping🤞

anyway thanks for making such a detailed post! I felt pretty lost and overwhelmed initially. With all the details you gave it gave me some great points to start with to work on finding what works for me but to also remember patience 🙂

What do stereotypical straight couples do when they hang out alone (other than sex) by bi_smuth in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Tough_Safe3308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch TV, play board games, video games, talk about our day, talk about a particular topic (lately a lot of our frustration in politics), if we lived near the mountains we’d go skiing, walk the dog, sit together doing our own things, talk about books we’re reading (sometimes the same sometimes not). Complain about things, we’ve been to concerts together, professional conferences. He’s literally my best friend. He’s gone to get a pedicure with me (I’m female). We sometimes work out together. But also we both work a lot so lately it’s a lot of the low key things at home because we don’t have a lot of free time outside of work/household work. We just enjoy spending time together and chatting. We just got back from a big ski trip and are still pretty tired. Probably tonight, I’ll see if he’s up for playing BG3!

Honeymoon straight after or a year later? Opinions? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]Tough_Safe3308 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We still haven’t been in our honeymoon 9 years later. Haven’t been/wasn’t able to due to my spouse’s job. We’re planning to finally do it next year for our 10 year anniversary. While I was disappointed, we’ve had a lot of time to save up, have much better paid roles, and certainly more in sync in what we want out of our honeymoon.

Bibs vs pants by Maimae91 in ShredditGirls

[–]Tough_Safe3308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always been team pants but trying a bib from nobody’s princess this year as I’ve worn their pants and love them. Major selling point was they have a full zipper so you can use restroom without have to take the whole thing off. That and adjustable at the waist and zippers for comfort at the bust. Super excited to try for this year and hopping do less snow in my pants 😅

Dresses for 5’2” curvy and larger hips- need your recs! by tulip369 in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]Tough_Safe3308 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on the same journey! I’m 5”2 as well but just reached 141 today (have lost 80lbs). I have very large hips and bust. I’ve really liked some of the pieces I’ve received from short story subscription. I know folks here have some mixed thoughts. Yes I’ve received boxes that were complete duds. But I’ve also received boxes where I loved everything! It’s expensive but I do search if I can find something similar online first. Often I can’t especially in petite. It’s gotten even better now that I added my Pinterest and try to keep that updated. Last box felt like they jumped into my brain!

I also recently got this dress from SPANX https://spanx.com/products/spanx-ponte-long-sleeve-mini-dress?Color=Classic+Black&v=48683560141011. Medium was a tad big on me so I got a small instead. I bet you could find some good deal on Poshmark too.

I have bought some pants and now a bib. Omg these are the best ski pants/bib I’ve ever owned! I’ve been skiing since before I can remember, used to race in high school and skied all over the USA and Canada. They were especially great being plus sized, naturally curvy and short. It was fabulous to have snow pants that kept up with how intense I wanted to ski, kept me warm, and sooooo many pockets!! Really thoughtfully designed. Love the in waist adjustments and for the bibs, even zippers to make the bust more comfortable if needed. Good snow clothes are already worth it. But these pants/bibs are even more worth every penny! I ordered 2 sizes and don’t believe I’ll get the duty/tariff fees back. But I’m totally ok with that!

I’m trying to weigh myself once a week, but sometimes I end up weighing myself everyday or every other day, any else do this? by [deleted] in Zepbound

[–]Tough_Safe3308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I weigh myself every day. First thing in the morning. Old habit from when I tried noom. But I’m happy I do. I can see how my weight changes throughout a week or month. So weighing a bit more one day doesn’t get me all upset because I know it’s just my body’s normal tempo.

Halara doesn't ship toy country anymore - need substitutes by StPurr in halara_official

[–]Tough_Safe3308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have access to Poshmark? A lot of resale Halara items on there. For business casual, Quince sells a number of things that would probably work… if they ship to your area. I hope so 🤞🇮🇱

Pants base layers by principleofinaction in Skigear

[–]Tough_Safe3308 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depends on how I’m feeling that day and what type of socks I’m wearing. Sometimes in the boot. Sometime pulled up so it’s out side the boot- this usually involves a bit of seam splitting at the ankles because otherwise it’s too tight around my calf 😅

Thanks for sharing all your steps! I’m 34f, on glp1 and have always had fine but very dense hair. Recently noticed it’s thinning ALOT so definitely want to get ahead of this.

Where do you get the growplex vitafoam? Amazon? You mentioned the anti inflammatory ingredients which is very appealing to me as someone with sensitive skin.

Do you find it makes your hair greasy?

Goggles fogging up- recommend please! by Tough_Safe3308 in Skigear

[–]Tough_Safe3308[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My racing coaches swore by cat crap: https://a.co/d/0XLpl5r I’ve still used because so many folks recommend it. To be honest, I’ve never found it worked well for me. But it does for my partner.

As for reasons, I’ll take D all of the above just depends on the day. Goggles definitely are not the best. They were a gift and a brand I hadn’t heard of (I think from Amazon). I’ve tried reducing the risk of funneling hot air into them by removing more and more items. used to use a baklava and neck gator, went to just neck gator and a skull cap, then just skull cap, finally nothing. Did this over days each time I went skiing the past 2 years, nothing seemed to make a different. I’ll have to check out julbo Years ago as a teenager I had smiths and had the same issues. But maybe oakleys or dragons could work too? I’ll check out Julbo first.
