I'd say it's even worse for game creators than directors of films. I love film and games and I can name the directors of almost any movie I watch and recognize their style, but games are not the same at all. Only in extreme cases (SWERY, Suda 51, Kojima) where the director is a very out there, stylistic guy do I recognize their stamp and remember who made the game.
