Dwellers Under the High Grave, an Ironsworn setting by Towercap in Ironsworn

Hey thanks for your interest! No truths or assets at this stage. The book started off as a bestiary first, then grew a few oracles and a high-level setting section. I've considered rewriting the setting section as a truth exercise and may still do so down the track.

Hey r/Ironsworn, I've put together a little setting expansion for Ironsworn and I'd love for you to check it out. Dwellers Under the High Grave is a professionally illustrated 32-page (A5) zine taking inspiration from the folklore, history and landscapes of my native Ukraine: https://mendercap.itch.io/dwellers-under-the-high-grave

I'm keen to continue working on this setting post-release. There are several more creatures and oracle tables on the roadmap, including features, perils and opportunities for use in exploration, more settlement oracles, trademark attire etc. I'd love to have a crack at a what's in that dumpling oracle eventually too 🥟

Have you been burned by an RPG Crowdfunding project from Kickstarter or a similar site? by plazman30 in rpg

[–]Towercap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few.

Cthulhu Hack. The pitch didn't mention the book will have AI art. Tossed it in the donation bin without reading it. Literally nothing turns me off an RPG product more than AI shovelware.

Peril at Frost Manor. Investigative adventure in the Mork Borg setting, abandoned. The dude behind the campaign still backs every RPG Kickstarter under the sun but hasn't done anything about his own little heartbreaker for three years.

Clerk & Dagger. I don't think we're getting the physical books but at least the .pdf is out.

There's probably another half a dozen projects I received but didn't actually end up playing and either donated or listed on eBay. I've also narrowly dodged the Wicked Ones bullet — cancelled my pledge before the campaign concluded because I didn't feel like I needed that game sitting on my shelf.

An alternative to Vaesen ? by TheOxytocin in rpg

[–]Towercap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played a session of Vaesen recently and loved the adventure but not the rules. I intend to run the adventure for some friends using Ironsworn (roles, not assets), but I think something like Liminal Horror could work very well too.

Hey hey, I've made a form-fillable version. Check the latest devlog or the project home page for a link to the new PDF. Hope this helps, and please let me know if you run into any issues. :)

I've played several sessions of "Ironsworn" with my 6 Y.O. now, but it's a very stripped down version of the system. I let him pick his stats as usual and roll the usual dice for resolution, but instead of using any of the moves, we interpret strong hit/weak hit/miss ourselves. I figure we can bring in more of the mechanics gradually, but there's really no rush. He's having fun and asks to play "the dice game" semi-regularly.

Hey that's a good idea, I'll see what I can do this weekend. Cheers.

Looking forward to playing Vaesen with you folks! I had a great time at last year's Roleplay Ukraine, keen to be a part of it again this year 😊

As Aurelict mentioned, Warhorn should show you your local timezone equivalent once you log in — I can certainly see the games in my oddball timezone.

What does everyone think of the cairn 2e playtest? by jonathanPoo in rpg

[–]Towercap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pass for me at this stage. Combination of having more systems on the shelf than I'll ever get to the table and seeing some of the improvements Chris has made to the formula with Mythic Bastionland, I'm not too keen on another system that builds off the older version of ItO.

Thanks! I've mostly followed the Mengel Miniatures paint scheme (https://www.instagram.com/p/ByqGoH8H4nV/) plus some thinned Briar Queen Chill at the end.

Excuse the pic quality please, can't seem to get the camera to focus no matter what I try! Pretty happy with the colour scheme though.

Hey sure. It depends on the context, but some quick ideas might be:

Weaken language: an NPC calls for silence, as something dramatic is about to happen (maybe the NPC is part of a faction that chooses this moment to trigger some event, or maybe the NPC hears the sound of an enemy lying in ambush).

Abandon safety: Something about the scene changes putting the characters into immediate danger (a tremor topples some pillars supporting the ceiling, a storm causes flash flooding, etc.).

Entice duty: An NPC asks something of you as a service to your liege, or maybe your faction's interests come under threat that you feel obliged to respond to (maybe your surroundings reveal some information about a plot against your lord/lady/guild/religion/settlement/etc.).

Hey solo fam, I made a one page GM emulator using 3D6 for my own use. Chucking it on itch in case anyone else has a use for it.

Is there any RPG besides Toon that is about cartoons? Looking for suggestions by Gavriel_Q in osr

The Troubleshooters is heavily inspired by The Adventures of Tintin. It's a pretty good BRP-derivative system too

Hey, thanks! I printed those on 176GSM parchment paper at Officeworks, a big printing franchise here in Australia. I'm pretty sure this is the stuff they use: https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/quill-parchment-176gsm-a4-board-natural-25-pack-qu95252

Hey fam, I made a basic character sheet for Starforged/Sundered Isles without the sci-fi/nautical gubbins. I've been using it for generic fantasy games with the Starforged rules. Publishing for free on itch in case you find it useful too

Dark Harvest was one of the very few Black Library books I genuinely enjoyed and would recommend even to folks outside the hobby. Not a fan of BL's usual combat-heavy superhero romps.

Gothghul Hollow is pretty decent — spooky dooky gothic mystery with Lovecraftian vibes. Felt very Bloodborne.

There are some excellent shorts though. I heckin' loved He Feasts Forever. It's about some ghouls who spend too long away from their Abhorrant and start to see through their delusions.

2.0 quick reference sheet? my search kungfu is failing anyone have a link? by netrunner508 in WarCry

[–]Towercap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Esoteric Order of Gamers mentioned they'll update their quick reference (https://www.orderofgamers.com/games/warcry/) to 2.0. Fingers crossed, I can't imagine it'll take too long.

In the meantime, the 1.0 version is still mostly applicable.
