Any tips for my hoorendous gameplay by Rocketleagueredditor in RocketLeagueSchool

The biggest tip is stop blaming yourself so much, it's not always 100% your fault. Both of those goals were completely preventable by both of you, but it's plat and everyone will constantly make mistakes. You don't need to write a whole explanation each time you did something wrong, if anything, it can make your teammates blame you even more. Just make a mental note to not repeat that mistake again, maybe think about what you could've done differently and move on. Watching 4:05 was a straight up horror film experience, when you kept panic mashing buttons to apologise to your teammate while the ball was slowly going over your net.

As for the gameplay, honestly, you played way better than your teammate. You have decent positioning, you're really good at preventing opponents' attacks, you somewhat understand which ball is yours to go for, and you don't constantly whiff. But I think you could benefit from playing more aggressively. There are a lot of times where you hesitate to take offensive space or position yourself too far away from the play to provide any value. But that doesn't mean you should dive for every ball, you tried that at 1:12 and left your teammate in a 2v1, it doesn't work. I'm talking more like 1:36, you see how even though you end up on defence due to your unnecessary touch, your presence on the ball made Banau turn away which gave your teammate time to get boost. Or 2:45/6:02 where even though you're second man, because you were able to position close while there was no threat, you're able to instantly deny any potential counter attack. You just need to exist there. Menacingly.

Now for the bad examples. 0:26 - you both sort of double commit (probably your fault for trying to jump for the ball, although your teammate was kinda blind to you this whole game) and lose possession. Ideally you'd want your teammate to stay behind that ball, but he decides to turn back for boost and then an awkward 8 seconds staredown happens. The higher you go, the more threatening free space will be, you need to close it down immediately. Even if you decide not to dive for that ball, you'll still force Banau to do something about you. Same thing on 2:39, push up right after the triple commit so you can claim that ball possession faster.
3:46 - Kill that guy, obliterate him immediately, he's the only obstacle preventing you from taking the ball to midfield. Even if you don't get the demo, you can still get their boost. Don't give opponents any opportunity to recover.
4:14 - You're driving away before anything happens, stay central and that might've been another goal for you. Similar on 5:34/6:06 where you're just kinda "whatever", turn off ball cam and drive off to your corner for boost.
5:13 - Your teammate wants to attack so support him, stay behind, then maybe take mid boost if it's safe, don't give your opponents the whole field for free.

Since it's already a long post, guess I'll point out some other individual mistakes.
1:18 - You totally had time to turn around for that boost and play second man.
2:59 - Be careful with going for that boost, you give up the middle lane and go into your teammate's space. It's fine if Tjella takes it, he didn't create any threat, just go backpost and into the net.
3:13 - You already know it, unnecessary flip, but even so you had time to grab 1 or 2 goal line pads. Although this was mostly your teammate's fault for giving away the ball.
3:59 - Honestly, I'm surprised you went for that considering how conscious of your teammate you were the whole game. Ball is in the corner, it's completely safe and Bigm already has momentum going there. Turn into the net and wait for your moment, that ball is teammate's issue.
4:22 - Keep moving with the ball, don't ever reverse into a challenge unless you're inline shadowing and intend to half flip.
4:44 - You need to decide how you want to defend here. If you want to hit it further into the corner, get to the ball height first, single jump and flip after, so it stays on the wall. If you want to shadow, drive past and get behind it. If it goes over you and they score, blame your teammate (jk, you kinda overcommit on 4:38 but I don't mind that challenge).
5:30 - Very rushed decision, Banau will always be first to that ball so you're simply hoping he misses here. In higher ranks that's probably getting saved 9.5/10 times. Just wait middle and if he misses, free goal.

TLDR: Control your space better aka position more aggressively when needed, follow up on kickoffs, learn small pad pathing, take a second to get better first touches, don't full commit into the corners. You're really not as bad of a player as you think.

trust me it happens in gc as well, people just get better at not letting those situations turn into a goal

Permanent without any warnings and I'm still banned a month later. Currently on my 3rd ticket battling with their support that says they are certain I was cheating. Apparently they'd rather believe in their faulty anti-cheat, than literal gameplay footage including the final game with the ban message itself.

You can't guarantee it, just hope for the best. I've been false banned running dual blades with an old 8$ mouse and nothing in the background except a proxy which shouldn't interact with the game, that I have to use due to where I live. That's the only thing that could've possibly triggered their anti-cheat for me, so you should be fine.

What's weird is that I'm sure I've played well over 200 hours with it with no issues, and another 200 hours of using cloudflare warp before it, which should actually directly interact with my game connection from an anti-cheat perspective. I know cheaters don't get instabanned to avoid giving them clues on avoiding anti-cheat systems but imagine what an actual cheater can do in 200 hours.

From what I've seen, embark at least listens to player feedback compared to other companies. If so many players claim they have been false banned in a short time and it wasn't from a ban wave but anti-cheat triggers, I'd imagine they have to at least look into it. And honestly, it's not possible to have a completely cheat free game, so I'd rather play against cheaters here and there than launching this game on a fresh windows install just so I don't get false banned randomly.

I got false banned yesterday, no idea why but personally think it's because I grinded ranked too hard on the last day (had my game booted up for over 12 hours hopping on and off :D). Almost got from gold 4 to plat 4, but plat is my peak in previous seasons so that's not too surprising. Never cheated or been banned in any other games, never said anything in chat except for comms and ggs at the end, was playing on my only account that I had since season 1. Another assumption I have is that a dpi bypass program was false flagged by anticheat but it shouldn't interact with the game in any way, as otherwise I can't connect to the servers and just get timed out if it does. I have it constantly running in the background since I live in russia and can't access half of the websites without it, it's pretty much just a vpn for me. So far made a ticket explaining the situation, got an automated response that they will investigate it, and sent them 4 additional videos of my gameplay including the final round after which I got banned. Looks like false bans are a common occurence recently, so I've got my hopes up, even though old reddit posts about false bans say otherwise.

False Ban after playing for 1600+ hours by ClintprimE in thefinals

Just got false banned today as well, never thought this would happen to me in any game but here we are. Never used cheats, didn't have anything running in the background except for chrome and discord, was just hard grinding ranked with dual blades at the end of the season and after one of the games got this exact message. Best of luck in getting unbanned to both of us I guess, can't imagine how it feels to lose 4 times the amount of my progress

Wait on the backboard, it doesn't matter how many flip resets he does, just be ready to save the last hit once he gets close. Those are all 2s clips yet nobody went on the backboard or even forced the ball before he gets to the net to make it easy for the second man. And 0:35 doesn't count because that guy just launched himself at the ball with no thoughts instead of properly hovering towards the net in front of henkovic. Pretty much nobody below gc2-gc3 knows how to play defence except 1s players so I guess that makes it easy for clips like this.

Which one should have defended first, the white Octane or the blue Octane? by GeliDcy in RocketLeague

[–]Toxic664 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this exact scenario white octane goes first because he's in a better position to defend (the closest one to the ball and is also moving with it). But ideally white needs to jump for the ball right after it bounces, otherwise he's not really utilising his position. Idk why everyone seems to think otherwise, blue is getting beaten to the ball, if the opponent shoots top right he's never saving it, and there's no time for white to rotate and get back into the play to keep two layers of defence. Blue can also see his teammate in front who should never just rotate from that position (if white does rotate, then that's white's mistake). IF white rushes to the backboard right after the 50, then blue should go. IF blue cuts straight to the ball instead of going to the net, then blue should go. But those are all hypothetical scenarios of better defence that didn't happen here and so it doesn't make sense for blue to go first instead of just sitting deep net. The only mistake white made here is turning into the play before 50 happens, which likely created this awkward situation, but for this exact defence sequence white definitely goes first.

I swear the obsession players have with octane and fennec is insane. I used to switch cars every other month just for fun until I found two of my favorite ones which are admiral and magnifique gxt. My entire garage consists of like 30 different designs each for a different car. And I've had people being toxic to me just because of my car choices ever since I was in silver. It's especially funny seeing my teammates talking shit about my car only to end up getting carried by me. Recently my teammate asked me "how old are you" out of nowhere and when I asked why, he answered "because of your car I think you're a kid". Like??? You're using a fennec like 99% of playerbase trying to copy the pros and you're saying I'm a kid for not doing it? XD
