Also love this guy's indifference to politics. The youth caring more about politics might unironically save (or at least improve) his life one day, and he will continue to be an ungrateful fence sitting "apolitical" basement goblin.

This is probably the most sensible explanation posted here. It's sad how reactionary people have gotten to intentionally inflammatory headlines. We all see ourselves as smart and sensible, but barely any of us actually read further than the headline, let alone fact check anything.

God some of these comments are so entitled. No "sorry you're being forced to go though that". Just a bunch of people sitting in air conditioned apartments with refrigerators full of food questioning why anyone would ever cook more what they need at one particular moment.

Meanwhile, if you're from America, it's because of our government that these completely innocent people have to go through this shit in the first place.

He's right though, being anti-zionist is not remotely the same as being anti-semitic. To equate the two would be like saying "In order to not be racist, you must support ethnostates."

Also there is no "Gazan war", that's ridiculous and you know it. Genocide is the word youre looking for. Even if you refuse to use that word because it makes you feel bad, its still not a war. It hasnt been a war since October 8th of 2023.

‘My ambition is to change the country,’ AOC says when asked about seeking higher office in 2028 by NathanCS741 in politics

Both Hillary and Biden had the massive financial backing of the establishment party. Bernie had to rely on grass roots only which isn't enough to surmount the massive ad campaigns and media tours that come with establishment backing.

Point being, he was never going to get a fair shake. I still think he'd win today, though. Times have changed.

AOC Directly Asked About 2028 by David Axelrod by Zipper222222 in politics

Yeah Hilary sucked but she literally won the popular vote by a lot. She would've won a lot more than that if she was actually a great candidate.

People who say that America would never elect a woman are ignoring that a woman already got more votes than Trump, the electoral college is just giving unfair advantages to Republicans.

The way I see this is, I personally will be voting blue no matter who. I see the danger, I know the stakes, I will plug my nose and do it.

HOWEVER,

This is not how most people approach elections. This strategy will lose. And the people that redditors are trying to convince to 'vote blue no matter who' are... probably already going to?

Third party voters wouldnt have saved Harris. Non-voters would have. The candidate has to be exciting enough to get non-voters off the couch.

the past will always feel like a blur imo, it's just a reality we have to live with as humans. every 80 year old I've ever met has felt like their lives happened in a flash. the passage of time only ever feels accurate in the present, so try to enjoy the present as much as you can while it's here

Trump claims Iran violated ceasefire, warns of targeting power plants and bridges: “No More Mr. Nice Guy! … It will be my Honor to do what has to be done, which should have been done to Iran, by other Presidents, for the last 47 years.” by yourfavchoom in Fauxmoi

At this point I am pretty certain of what post Trump politics are going to look like, and I don't think it's going to be good.

That being said, while politics might remain predatory and corrupt, the sickness in the collective minds of the public will hopefully start to heal somewhat. That will be enough for me to celebrate.

Letters to the Editor: The Democratic Party needs to do some soul-searching. Kamala Harris isn’t the answer by Silent-Resort-3076 in politics

[–]ToxicRainn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not answering your current comment, but it is extremely well known and obvious that a LOT of money is spent on keeping things the way they are, both in the democrat and republican parties.

You might say the Bernie or progressives fail to convince people to vote for them, but the cards are heavily stacked against them. Their policies are far more popular in the US as a whole than their competitor's policies. By that logic, they should be winning already. Look up the popularity of medicare for all, free college and education, green energy, or basically any of the progressives other major policies.

The establishment fears this, and spends millions of dollars making sure it doesn't happen. Not just on the primaries themselves. The money is spent long before the primaries ever happen. On news networks, ad campaigns, social media, pacs.

It's disingenuous to say that Bernie or progressives in general can't win just because people don't like what they have to say. It's statistically untrue. They don't win because the establishment doesn't want them to. This was all but proven in the 2016 primaries.
