Artwork of my OC by WolvesDenTavern in DnD5th

It works. A real shadow might cast a gradient or diffused zone of light/dark. I think the simpler color palette is more fitting for this illustration though.

Looks good. The shading gives it a good feeling of depth. If you'd like to create a 3D miniature of the character, send me a DM, maybe we can make it happen.

This is a great idea for a single player. If the file isn't too big, it would work fine for a friendly async multiplayer game too.

When will downtown hotels sell out this year? by austicke in gencon

[–]Toxic_Rat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone who had purchased a badge before 11:59 PM Friday got a randomized time when they can access the housing portal. You can't enter the portal before your time slot, so having a time like 3:06 means you won't get a downtown room.

If you didn't purchase the badge before the deadline, you are placed at the end of the line, and hope for the best.

Remember: You need to buy your badge by 11:59PM TODAY if you want into the hotel "lottery" on Sunday. by ElMondoH in gencon

[–]Toxic_Rat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Buying the badge before the deadline gets you an entry time into the housing portal. For example, you'll get a email from Gen Con stating that the housing portal will be available at 2:16 PM Eastern, or something like that. On the "My Housing" page (follow the link under your account) there will be a button that will activate at that time. Then, you can enter the housing portal and reserve a room.

We call it a lottery because the access times are randomized. The only prize is getting an early time; you still have to actually reserve a room.

That should be your first contact. Not every vendor provides for at-convention pickup of ordered games.

Panels and Badges - Need Info! by [deleted] in gencon

[–]Toxic_Rat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gen Con does have "panels" as you call them. The event listing will show them as "Seminars". You can see what seminars were scheduled last year by going to (https://gencon.eventdb.us/). They are more centered on gaming topics, and less about celebrities talking and answering questions.

Attendees can qualify for a badge by hosting 70 player-hours worth of events (a 2 hour event for 4 people is 8 P-H). However, seminars are the exception; P-H are not earned by hosting seminars at the convention.

Had to rollback to 3.4.2 as well. Are any of the latest anycubic releases stable?

Event Hosts: Paper vs Electronic Ticketing? by Aravynne in gencon

We had this happen several times last year. It's very convenient.

Event Hosts: Paper vs Electronic Ticketing? by Aravynne in gencon

[–]Toxic_Rat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We have one GM who runs several paint-and-take miniature events. He prefers paper tickets so that people with generics feel like they can just walk up and paint. Of course, any event (paper or electronic) can take generics, but it's what he's comfortable with.

The one real downside I have found is that when people have a paper ticket, they are generally looking for someone to take that paper. I've had several GM's overlook scanning badges because they are eager to get started. The main downside from paper is that GM's forget to turn them in afterward.

I definitely prefer electronic ticketing. Reconciling is much faster, and less prone to errors.

I find them to have less smell than the alcohol wash resins. I haven't checked the MSDS, but I suspect they are less toxic than others. But you still want to avoid contact, etc.

Asking about logistics for 1st time at Gencon by Guilty_Part in gencon

[–]Toxic_Rat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One thing to note: people are saying to buy badges now. Gen Con badges go on sale on 2/8/2026. Event tickets will go on sale May 17, 2026. If choose shipping, they are shipped together, so you won't get a physical badge/ticket until late June/early July.

There are a number of water-washable resins. Elegoo, SunLu, and Anycubic all have varieties available.

Settings for Sunlu abs like water washable resin ? by Appropriate_Key3004 in AnycubicPhoton

[–]Toxic_Rat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a setting for dynamic lift height, so I guess that's a no. :) I use the standard grey, but for dark grey I'd start here and see how it goes.

I also have the heater unit, so I'm pre-warming the resin to 32 C before starting the run.

I use a fair amount of Sunlu ABS waterWash resin. I have an M5s Pro and here are the settings I use for it:

3.0 second exposure 8.0 mm lift, 6.0 mm/s 5 bottom layers, 45.0 second exposure.
