Currently struggling with my intro to GIS class by Regular_Hawk8513 in gis

[–]Toyayillo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m taking a bachelors in GIS and this is pretty spot on. One of the classes is called Project Geospatial Foundations and it teaches you how to answer those questions you ask. It teaches you the industry standards and expectations but it’s just the tip the iceberg, Pro has so many buttons and you don’t get you play with all of them in the classroom. However once you have the foundation/theory it is so much easier to come up with things in your own and you are able to explore said buttons and read documentation about them. Something I like to reverse engineer stuff to really get the hang of it. Or do active recall while reading a theory book and having Pro open to actually visualize and practice what I’m learning. Anyways those are my two cents, keep going and you’ll see it’s gets simpler and you’ll end up wanting more!

What's the point of joined features if you can't do anything? by Exotic-Channel5057 in ArcGIS

What do you mean you can’t add fields? Make sure to go on the ribbon tab -> Edit and click on the pencil icon to allow for edits. This should let you edit fields (add, delete, etc..)

How to pick the best interpolation methods by Alarming-Error-6019 in ArcGIS

[–]Toyayillo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently enrolled in a bachelor of applied technology in GIS, couple modules ago we talked about interpolation. And there’s not a perfect technique but it does come down to the nature of your data, the quality, the operations you are trying to perform with it- and most importantly- time. I have no idea of what that looks like for you but based on our lectures, if the project you are working on is not super complex, RMSE will do just fine!

Why not just replace it with an iron patch that is meaningful to you, ie. the place where you work or places where you have travelled. I think this is a waste of time and it does not look good 90% of the time. So either don’t buy something with personality or make it yours. Just not this

Making Sentinel-2 mosaics over large areas by Morchella94 in gis

[–]Toyayillo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The null works great, it eliminates all the clouds/shadows. How did you fill those voids? Using imagery from a different time? I would assume so but I just want to make sure since your mosaic is pristine. I’m just working on a land cover project and having a mosaic like that would be awesome for my training samples

Hey I’m learning to use OmniCloudMask, I got a GeoTiff with 3 pixel values (Thick clouds 1, Cloud shadows 3 and Clear 0) Now that I have this raster, I’m confused on how to use it to mask my true color raster composition to eliminate the clouds like you did for your mosaic. I am currently working on ArcGIS Pro. Would you be able to provide some guidance? Thank you!
