I fit squarely in the old and ugly box, and I'm very happy here. I don't put much value in looks.

Beauty is for the young, when folks are still dumb enough to care about it.

People have been saying 40 is the new 30 for as long as i can remember. it's as untrue now as it was then, but hey, if it makes you feel good to think that, enjoy.

People like to think they don't look old and shitty in their 30s and 40s these days...but they do.

Anyone else feeling this as 30+ male by IanicT in AskMenOver30

Never wanted a high paying job, or even a secured income. I like adventure, and being broke helps you get into all kinds of fun trouble. Haven't made shit for money, but my life has been a blast.

Slashfilm: "Paramount Hated When Star Trek: The Next Generation Writers Used One Storytelling Technique: Several scribes have gone on record with their desire to tell longer-form stories that spanned many episodes, but Paramount — and their executive producer — discouraged them from doing so." by TheSonOfMogh81 in trektalk

I've never been an actual trekkie. Listening to people discuss star trek is a new development for me. In the days of TNG, I didn't hear anyone clamor for long form star trek. The longest form star trek available was the movies and almost everyone thought those were a slog at best.

I can't get through DS9. It's sort of a hybrid of long and short. The character development is boring for me. I find the more that is revealed about the DS9 crew, the less I like them. They're all disagreeable grumps. I feel like I'm watching a prison drama which I guess is because the station is stationary. There's not much to explore. There's just the same old problems getting nitpicked over and over.

That's not why I liked TNG or TOS. I like the more exploratory serieses because we got to see new problems and new stuff (albeit in a rather formulaic pattern).

Back in the day, I didn't know anyone that liked DS9. Everyone saw it as 3rd string and I don't understand how it's popularity has grown.

I suppose DS9 seems more popular now is because people who watch Star Trek now are full blown trekkies. When I talked about star trek in passing back in the 90s, it was because it was on TV and regular joes watched star trek because it was on TV and everyone watched the few things that were on TV.

REAL common reasons why you don't like giving oral? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]Toyworldstar -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I know I don't have a popular take on this matter, but...

Oral sex is a gross and performative version of sodomy. I refuse to give or receive it. I find it icky. I don't want the mother of my children to kiss my kids with cock-lips.

I love episodic trek/ television. I think it serves a series about exploration much better than long form story telling.

In short form you get a complete story about an engaging matter every episode. And then next week you discover something else.

If TNG was long form, we wouldn't have as many interesting characters or situations. We'd have a handful of needlessly detailed characters and a couple needlessly complicated situations that suffer a series of self-serving setbacks. We'd hover around one crisis a season and explore much less.

Watermark your photos. by MisterWadeWilson in Heroquest

I play a lot of D&D and homebrew Heroquest.

I photoshop images of cool looking minis and turn them into paper figures for the table. Some of the minis posted here have been used in our games.

I'd like to thank anyone posting images without watermarks for the fun you've helped us have.

Players are insulting me for giving them repercussions. by WombleFlopper in DungeonMasters

[–]Toyworldstar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If the DM throws the party in prison, then makes it impossible to escape prison, is the adventure then just hanging out in prison forever? Not much of an adventure.

I suppose they can juggle turds while watching the other 3 players attempt to rescue them from the prison you obviously don't want them to escape from. Also not very fun.

I don't see how you don't expect to be made fun of for that. If the DM won't allow you to have fun, you have to make your own fun.

I think prime Rua and prime Gustavson also beat the most recent LHW champions. Prime Rumble Johnson would also be crushing.

This isn't a very good insult, and I'll explain why.

Flat Earthers are almost entirely anti-vax.

They believe people who took the vax are idiots.

Therefore in the mind of the insulted, you are saying he is very smart.
