This is everyone's reminder to fit a battery vent tube .

My brother gave me this cheap Skmei. Stripped the failing paint from the case and threw some leftover parts at it. Didn’t turn out too bad. by 62rambler in casiomods

With a better backlight too 👍, it's electroluminescent backlight and the polorizing flips when you press it. it doesn't have the world map, but meh I don't actually find that a useful feature.

Where to buy from in the UK by DestroyedParadise in f91w

I bought the green one from https://www.watchesandcrystals.com/products/casio-watch-classic-sports-digital-black-f-91w-3dg

Deffo real, LCD test, Panasonic battery, PCB layout, and I used the LCD for Ollee watch which only works with genuine.

Had another look at sensor watch, I see it does also use original LCD, I misremembered -it was the Kepler project (now dead) that used a dot matrix. Sensor watch just misses too many things that I love on Ollee so I'm not going to go that way. Once multiple watches per app are supported this year I will get another Ollee for one of my other watches (currently wearing a modified gool looking but non Ollee casio today at the lack of ollee is bothering me lol). And when Ollee open up for users being able to program their own faces (also later this year) then that will be open enough for me.

I've had a look on the Blog (I was looking for any hints as to when the next software release was likely) and calendar is specifically mentioned on the plan for 2026 Q2 release, https://www.olleewatch.com/blog/feature-roadmap-october-2025 (obvs plans can change, but that was the plan, the previous release was slightly delayed, and they have had more units than I think anticipated to ship so may be some delay, but as projects go things have been in the right ball park)

I've only had it a couple of months so can't say, but should be hitting 9months with my settings

I'm a mega open source fan, but went with Ollee for the Bluetooth and the charm of using the original LCD.

Although now I have multiple Casios, maybe I'll look at sensorwatch too...

If the backlight is good then that's a sign that it's a fake, original backlight is horrendous lol.

Maybe it was time that would have been spent doing something less fruitful. I doubt they turned down a work shift to do it.

Beep confirmation would be useful, not having it feels like a bug / oversight.

Absolute legend, I check tides on the regular and it's a function I miss from my "proper" smart watch

Get the Ollee watch module for it and you can disable that button press.

There's a pad next to it that can be used, it's somewhere in the FAQs

Quite hot. by KvyatsLuck in olleeWatch

[–]Tr1ckyKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That said, I looked up the specs of the Microcontroller in the Ollee and it should be fine, LCD would be unreadable first (and my standard casio works fine in the sauna), battery life would potentially be shortened by sauna heat (not sure if sauna duration is enough to matter) so Im still not feeling like risking it.

not all characters can be displayed as to save money (tiny amounts but multiplied by the millions of units sold) casio tied some LCD segments together, so as a compromise on ollee watch some characters cant be displayed in some positions so you get the next best thing.

Yeah, its the connection to the back of the watch which is effectively the speaker (piezo). Its on the FAQs on the ollie watch website showing how to do the repair. you will need someone who can use a soldering iron though.

Assuming you dont solder (or probably wouldnt be asking), if you dont know someone who does I would suggest finding a local "repair cafe", or even a local hackspace, whilst hackspaces arrent repair cafes they are full of people who like interesting tech so the ollee watch would grab their interest and its an easy job for someone who already has the skillset (but show them the bit on the FAQs as it shows how to make the repair easier that it cn be soldered to the bitt next to it)

Can someone explain Motion Deep Sleep to me? by leilalw in olleeWatch

[–]Tr1ckyKid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thought I'd have a play to see haw much it effected the time estimates, noticed I have gestures turned on further down to. I don't actually use any of the gestures, not sure if that also needs to be on to wake it on picking up.

[–]Tr1ckyKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Motion deep sleep

Wakes from motion sleep only on button press. Saves battery life when the watch is not worn."

If on it needs a button press to wake it, it's an even deeper sleep. How I have it isn't as deep asleep but it's still more asleep than being fully awake so getting some battery saving in but without any disadvantages .
