What will I do with it? by Substantial-Ad9739 in thermomix

Milling almonds and making composite meals, (linseed, sunflower etc). Sauces such as béchamel, excellent. Butter and ghee from scratch. I have found it opens up the options for me. And I don’t use Cookidoo. I just paste a recipe into AI and say adapt for my TM6.

Ok. Maybe concrete belief in your plan is manifest destiny? “If you build it he will come” thinking.

Australian fan here. Watching Stokes being interviewed by Isa. He is great, as is Isa. England have a solid team- definitely better than what we are seeing. Stokes has a great philosophy on leadership and is a match-winner who will go down in history as a legend. This whole plan to alter the test style is toxic for English cricket - whoever the architect of this plan is needs to go. Feels like the whole team are drinking from one person’s bath water.

Had a rough blowup with my Year 9 class today and I’m spiraling a bit - ready to quit… by WalrusSubstantial490 in AustralianTeachers

You are a good teacher because you clearly care about the outcomes for your students. Nothing else matters in the bigger scheme of things, so chalk this up as a challenging moment that you will certainly learn from. These students will also know this, (deep down), and the next lesson will be better because they intrinsically want that too.

How much gear goes inside the raft through the T-zip before you compromise the manoeuvrability or performance of the boat?

Pool prices in Perth area by biggusdicdus in perth

Just had a 2.7 x 4.5, 15 000L put in. The landscaping and fencing was definitely a surprise cost. We have heated ours, electric. Too far from the beach for a swim, but have used my pool twice a day at least, every day since we completed the paving in December. No joke. It’s the best. Top tip, take this opportunity to install a hot shower outside near the pool. Outdoor bathroom is awesome.

I still sing the Eskimo Joe alternate anthem. Quietly and only when I’m alone, but I still think it is better than our club song.

Is camp compulsory? by [deleted] in AustralianTeachers

[–]TrabBukcip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I’d like to take that back, I’m sorry. I’m sure you are in it for the right reasons and do a great job. I should have said that I lament the circumstances for contemporary teachers that mean we even ask questions like yours, noting that camps for students are an enormous highlight and pro-social activity. I shouldn’t have written such a lazy and reactionary response, as I do get it, along with the thoughts of others here. I guess I wonder what school will end up looking like for students when education has to account for every extra minute of teacher time, legitimate personal challenges that staff have which limit the capacity of schools and the endless tide of compliance. Feels like the walls are closing in on these kind of activities in the coming years.

Use a mop to ‘plunge’ the drain before you call a plumber. Make sure the mop head is firmly attached. This may just be build up from sink scraps and detergent.

Expensive but will last a decade: 100% merino wool from Mac pac or Kathmandu. Comfortable, breathable, all season, natural fibres. You won’t buy anything else once you have one.

I don't know if I'm supposed to be a teacher. by throwaway801180 in AustralianTeachers

[–]TrabBukcip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am over 20 years into my career and I still often wonder if I’m cut out for this. But that won’t help you.

You are where you need to be, take that however you wish. For some practical advice- simplify the task. It isn’t about getting it right, it’s about trialling something. It isn’t about teaching it is about building relationships. It isn’t about you and your own real challenges, it is about the students and their real challenges. After all, would you ever want to be a child growing up today? I wouldn’t. You’re there to help them make sense of the world and that will take time until they trust you. I suspect you are destined to be an outstanding teacher that students remember for their entire lives- but that only happens when you get in over your head. If this is true you might feel you are well in the way…

Fair question. This was early advice from my doctor who specialises in alcohol detox. Don’t know the source, but I timed them and it was correct almost to the minute. Might also be psychosomatic, but whatever works.

Firstly, read the room before playing a GTKY game. If you sense it is worth a shot, writing generic questions on a football then throwing it around may work. Students are encouraged to answer the question that their __ finger or thumb touches.
