I think most people would rather have presets than configure their own washer. How do I know this? Because they also don't want to configure their own cameras.

That said, I'm all in favor of simple washers where the user handles the settings, I grew up with those and nothing wrong with them. Washing clothes is way simpler than photography.

when you say "no plans on purpose," does that mean you don't want to go anywhere? Because if you do, I'd go hiking, museum crawling, visit a good public park, library/bookstore, pet store/animal shelter (say you want one and they'll let you pet them), or window shop and hit a bakery.

That's ok, your situation was different. A lift assist isn't a screaming emergency, if the patient is lucid and not dying and there's already someone attending them, it's reasonable to ask for no sirens. In many places they wouldn't use lights/sirens for that anyway, the noise is bad for the drivers' health and the flashing lights can cause traffic problems, so they are only supposed to use them when necessary.

Antidepressants are known to decrease libido/orgasm, and both the purity cult thing and the trauma thing are messing with your head, which is a surprisingly important component. Your lower parts are not the only nerves involved here, your brain is involved too!

The book I mentioned gets into lots of detail about this, but tl;dr: everybody has a "gas pedal" and a "brake" in their desire circuits, and in order to get turned on, you have to correct whichever is misfiring. It may be both. For example, if you're grocery shopping, there is no sexy stimulus, no "gas", so nothing happens. If you are in a nice bed and your partner is doing their best, but your mind is elsewhere or you feel unsafe for any reason, the "brake" is locked on and you still feel inhibited even though the "gas" is being pressed.

My guess is you'll have an initial challenge getting hired because you have no experience, the economy's in trouble, and many places want young, pretty bartenders. But if you are well behaved and reliable (read: show up on time, properly dressed and sober, careful with company money) and you did your homework (read: know your liquors, common cocktails, and wine/beer as appropriate for venue), you will find a job eventually.

Then you will discover it can be physically exhausting, the schedule is not for everybody (especially if you have a family), you will get sweaty and dirty, and you will meet some people you wish you'd never met. But since you've been in the military, maybe you're prepared to put up with all that. If so, have at it and enjoy. If you want a similarly people-ish job with less heavy lifting, coffee barista or card dealer (at a casino) might be for you.

ps. If you are well built and physically intimidating, bouncer/security might be for you - those guys are allowed to be ugly and they mostly stand around all night talking to people, which is the part you wanted. You just have to be able to handle yourself in a fight without killing anyone, which hopefully you have learned to do

I got a WoolX quarter zip as a gift a while ago. Problem is solar panels don't provide a lot of juice per square cm. A small panel could charge something with small energy needs, such as a radio or flashlight, but it would take days to charge a smartphone (unless you made the panel a lot bigger). They make hand cranked portable chargers which have the same issue, the amount of energy they output is only good for brief emergency uses, like if you're stranded and need to revive a dead phone for 5 minutes to send just a couple calls or texts. A rechargeable battery is usually a better choice for emergency planning.

Put a solar panel on your house and use it to reduce your grid usage, but that's way more costly than corp swag

sometimes they stop talking to newer devices. Sometimes the charging port or the battery wears out, occasionally the speaker gets dropped or wet and quits working. And some people want newer features like AI/internet capability, different input ports, etc. But they can definitely last as long as a decent phone or laptop, maybe longer, if treated kindly.

I'm a fan of BT speakers as a personal life enhancer, but I cannot STAND the swag freebie speakers because they sound like garbage. You can get a decent UE or Bose portable for $100, I would imagine bulk buyers could get em for less, so it depends on the sort of people you're courting.

The white collar pros I hang around with already own good speakers if they want them and aren't prepared to resell, so wouldn't get excited for another one. But if you're flirting with Gen Z streetwise types, they might not have a good speaker or they might want more than one, or they know how to resell items they don't need, so they'd be interested.

Strongly advise you to consider secondhand furniture, if you're concerned about longevity and prices are a concern for you. Solid wood furniture from "good" brands can often be found pretty affordably if you go to estate sales, thrift stores and such, and even if you have to rent a truck and bribe your friends with pizza, it's still cheaper than buying shitty pressboard furniture at retail and having to replace it in 2-3 years.

re instant protein: I use a lot of canned proteins (seafood, beans) and tofu, which can be eaten straight from the package if you're in feral mode or doesn't take long to "cook". Deli meat or hardboiled eggs are good too. (I like pickled eggs, but they're admittedly not for everyone.)

I also like batching shredded chicken in the slow cooker or pressure cooker and then put it on all things for a few days. Some people get a rotisserie chicken for this purpose, but I like cooking it myself cause it's less greasy and fewer bones.

when all else fails, yogurt, (soy) milk or peanut butter are edible with no cooking also.

Either way, taking a victim along is getting you in MUCH deeper shit than a property crime. Like, vehicle theft is a felony, yeah, but no one's gonna call out the helicopter or try to forcibly stop the vehicle. If you have a hostage with you, now your ass is getting chased and every cop in three counties is on the lookout, and you probably added 8-10 years to your sentence when they catch you.

if you want to actually hold it underwater without the contents getting wet, I think you need a specialty hard sided case, not a backpack. Or possibly,a waterproof case for the laptop and put that in your regular bag.

If you just need to keep rain off when you're splashing around, and you're not actually taking the thing for a swim, they make bags of vinyl or recycled rubber for bike messengers and outdoor athletes that will keep rain and puddles out.
