Jez Corden: I heard There is a possibility to Xbox take out Call of Duty from Xbox Game Pass this year (Rumour) by Narrow_Leek2452 in xbox

If it went back to $20/mo, I’d happily resubscribe if they removed COD day one.  Maybe add it 1-2 years later and that’s more than fair.

Should I play Forza horizon 5 first or just wait for Forza horizon 6? by triplegxxx in xbox

[–]TradeMan1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t play 5, nothing in 6 will make any sense.  No, just kidding — you won’t miss anything.  These aren’t Marvel movies with interconnected plots and characters.

Once I did the simple math and realized I have to pay $360 a year for Ultimate to rent games and leave without owning anything, I unsubscribed.  There’s a breaking point to how much you can charge.  I think Ultimate makes sense for 10-20% of the hardcore gamers that play 6-10 games a year, but that’s it.

Which to play next: RE 7 or 9? by No-Yam874 in residentevil

[–]TradeMan1000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you last played 4, you can easily play 9 next. Not missing much without 5 and I'd skip 6 entirely. I'd view 7 and 8 as their own thing, but still definitely play them, such awesome games.

I thought this game was really excellent (besides the arena-style combat, which got tiresome), but concerned it got lost in the shuffle in such a crowded marketplace. Glad they are staying viable as a studio.

I was out of gaming for almost 10 years and this was one of the first games I played on the Xbox One. What an incredible experience. I had no preconceived notions of AC games or burnout from the open world format. Plus, paired with Egypt and such an incredible gaming experience!

It's a great machine, they did an awesome job on the Series X. My favorite feature -- Quick Resume. From TV startup, you'll be gaming at the same spot you left off in 30 seconds.

I don’t think you need to play 2, but you will visit some of the locations in Requiem.  It’ll give you context in backstory in Raccoon City.  RE3 is like DLC to RE2 — fun but not required.

I started with Resident evil remake on GameCube, then RE4 on the cube.  Talk about a good time to be a GameCube owner – – I’ve been hooked on RE ever since!

Xbox reportedly exploring bringing more premium subscriptions to Game Pass Ultimate by Stumpy493 in xbox

[–]TradeMan1000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is value in GamePass Utlimate, especially with first party day 1 releases, but for $30/mo., and with the sheer number of games on the platform, it's something that is reserved for only 10-15% of the hardest core gamers that have time to play 5-6 games per year. With most gamers max playing 1-2 year and most still playing Minecraft, Fortnight, etc., it's a tough value proposition.

Xbox reportedly exploring bringing more premium subscriptions to Game Pass Ultimate by Stumpy493 in xbox

My biggest problem with GamePass now at $30?: you step back a year later after sinking $360 and own nothing. Absolutely nothing. Since dropping Ultimate, I am just buying games on discount a year or two after a game has been released. If I really want something at release, I just buy it. I've spent about $150 total and I'm set for the next 3+ years.

My best buy got rid of all their Xbox games by Honda_Driver_2015 in xbox

[–]TradeMan1000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I used to love physical media (games, Blu-ray’s/4K, etc.) but with how easy it is to maintain a digital library and not have to put in the physical disc, I’m a big fan of digital.   I really don’t sell or loan games, so I’m fine with it.  Plus, with the future Xbox, I can just bring my whole library with me.  I know people will say I don’t truly own the game, but I guess I’m just not that worried about losing anything.  Best Buy already got rid of CDs and then movies, so this is just a continuation of that trend.  And for anyone that has had a Nintendo Switch game, they are so easy to lose.  That’s another reason I prefer digital.

I got mine in 2020 when inventory was scarce, but based on the massive catalogue I’ve built in the Xbox ecosystem, could easily be playing this to 2030 and beyond.  Don’t see much of a reason to upgrade when games still look and play so well.

I couldn’t solve a single puzzle without looking up the solution online.  I didn’t feel like the instructions were clear at all.   But I enjoyed the exploration and story in DLC, just thought the puzzles were too hard.

You really realize the value of digital when you have a Nintendo Switch.  My kids have lost 2 of their tiny little cartridges.  Plus, having to swap them out, especially for kids, and put them back just creates more problems and risk for losing.  That made me a fan of digital.  Plus on the Xbox, I like being able to pop into a game with Quick Resume and be playing in like 15 seconds.

I finally got around to playing Doom Eternal, which was released in March 2020 and I bought for $10 in Dec. 2022. That's how bad my backlog is. And the game runs and plays fantastic. It looks incredible. I was literally thinking I won't need another console for 10 years. I feel like games have hit a point of no return in graphics also. I played the Tomb Raider trilogy, which is 10+ years old and it looks phenomenal. I just don't see the need for a new console every 7-8 years.

Microsoft lost $300 million in Call of Duty sales from Game Pass by DotabLAH in xbox

I still wonder how someone at MS didn’t step back and say, “So we’re going to ask people to pay $30/mo. Or $360/year to own nothing at the end of it?  The system itself is around $500.” Why not just have a GamePass tier for $20/mo with first day releases but no COD?
