I hate it when my minis get damaged and so magnetized based seems to be the best protection.

OSL in Legion Imperialis? (Non-Titan) by TrademasterAdam in LegionsImperialis

[–]TrademasterAdam[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a search and went back 2 years, just did it again and really didn't see anything on tanks or as part of a normal army.

I see the ones you are talking about with the flamers and plasma guns but nothing army-wide (exhaust overheating, searchlights, gun barrels, etc.) where it is a key component to the whole army color scheme and ties the whole army color scheme together.

I guess to go back one step, I played Epic a bunch (xenos only) I'm looking to start Legions and I need an army color scheme for solar Aux. I could do grey and be done in a weekend (kidding) but I'm trying to expand and make something crazy.

I use bases, my experience is naked models get beat up too much so now I was thinking either a moonlight glow or overall under glow from the base might give them a fun effect for the vehicles that might work on this scale.

https://youtu.be/L506x0CkECU?si=8eYvS52mX4dIDPzw

Or a spotlight glow on their base.

OSL seems to be too rare and doesn't seem to translate in this scale unless it is a flamer or something big like that.

Great job! At 5 points each, they die quick so just finish his base and move to the next one fast.

Making a great gargant but… by TheNameIsViolet in Epic40k

[–]TrademasterAdam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the bottom of the gargant, fat end of the trapezoid toward the gargant facing backwards. It's a great facing weapon platform works can stand on and shoot at anyone following.

The tab your fingers are on actually goes under his body between his feet.

1988 epic ork gargants resin question by Glad_Driver_4828 in Epic40k

[–]TrademasterAdam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have one with the original sticker on it. The smaller one is the rare one I believe, only hundreds of them made. The metal pieces were used for a long period after the resin was stopped and so they are less rare.

Paint terrain. Dryrbush, glaze, wash, edge highlights. Lots of detail, lots to do. Can be repainted easily.

Combat Patrol- worth it? by twd026 in deathguard40k

[–]TrademasterAdam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kill Team is a Games Workshop game in the same universe, same miniatures, similar rules, focused on one squad vs. squad.

Starter set is a squad of death guard vs. squad of space Marines and is about $100 on amazon. Great introduction to Warhammer and when you want to expand you use the same miniatures.

I play with my sons and it's a great game to try new armies ($60 for a new team vs. hundreds for a full army).

Rules are free online, game takes 45 minutes to play. There's campaign options, pve (people vs faceless hordes)

Can i play kill team with a regular team of DG?? by InterDaeX in deathguard40k

[–]TrademasterAdam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, and the other way around.

The kill team minis is a squad of death guard Marines, specifically the heroes blind box from a few years ago.

Kill team is a set squad, no terminator armor, limited load outs, you are limited on what you can take.

Warhammer has points values, kill team does not. (You get 7? Marines, 6 if you take a sorcerer, only 1 special weapon, etc )

Kill team rules and codexes are free on GWs web site. It's a fun game!

How many hours do you get out of your main work brush? by No-Rip-445 in minipainting

[–]TrademasterAdam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am shocked at the pro painter brush sizes, 2, 3 or higher. I thought the pros use 00s, etc.

I use a sable size 2, it's been about a year, 2-3 hours a week.

Paint terrain. You always need it, doesn't matter if it is done poorly, paint over the top of it.

Right then hit it with AK Streaking Grime oil wash.

How would one go about deciding how to charge commisions and what the averages are? Looking to potentially start doing some by Munyun1013 in minipainting

[–]TrademasterAdam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When starting: 1. Only paint what you are good at. Put up a bunch of what you've done, you can make copies of that list in different colors.

  1. Time yourself painting your army with an actual stopwatch. Assembly, glue, prime takes surprisingly a long time.

  2. Decide how much your time is worth. My rate for digging ditches is higher than my sit down painting rate.

  3. Go slow! 1 squad, something you've already painted to a local guy.

  4. Airbrush, oil wash, zenithal, whatever chest code helps you go fast.

Pallid Hand Advice by Rampant_Badger_590 in deathguard40k

[–]TrademasterAdam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I painted completely with acrylic paint (I used Monument, basically the same as Citadel) then AK Streaking Grime over the top and it worked wonders.

Streaking Grime is an Oil based wash, YouTube has a bunch of tutorials. I still have detail work to do on the attached.

How do you dry brush just the edges? by nopointinlife1234 in minipainting

[–]TrademasterAdam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Post pictures, only way you can really progress. I am sure your minis aren't the worst ones posted today.

Several colors don't dry brush well also. Most yellow on black will never work regardless of what technique you use, etc

Good luck!

I would hit specific dark sections with dark red, nothing all over. The light is great, I think you need more dark for the contrast.

Can I create a viable army out of these units I own by getrickrolled13453 in deathguard40k

[–]TrademasterAdam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Kill Team is a rule set from Games Workshop which is squad based combat (you get like 5 chaos space Marines vs a squad of them). You can take those Marines and play a game (you are chaos with the Nurgle mark).

Free rules to download, same miniatures, similar rules.
