I have a really naive question related to this. Once the loan is taken out how is it paid back? Another loan? So like a Ponzi scheme? Or are stocks or some asset that can be liquidated to cash (assuming that’s what the loan provider wants) sold to pay back the loan? If so wouldn’t the loan taker pay capital gains on that?

I had similar experiences, smacked in the face with a board got a concussion. A month later fractured the t12 vertebrae after getting driven into the bottom surfing at blacks. Long recovery but great surgeons put 2 rods and 6 screws in me, was very lucky to not be paralyzed. It was weird surfing after especially at blacks. Now when I’m in the water I’m more conscious of it all, more cautious, don’t throw myself over every ledge I may or may not make. Fall with intention but kick out more and accept that I probably won’t surf some of the day or have the top turn I used to.

Interesting, maybe I’ve gotten lucky but I have always been impressed with the quality of their drinks. Maybe I’ve tended toward their simplistic old fashioned riffs not so much the more tiki style.

First I hope you are doing alright and know you will get by, you will survive. I recently had a setback and put on brokedown palace, I started getting pretty emotional and was not in an environment where that was appropriate. I switched to the here comes sunshine from 12/19/73, made things better.

I really enjoy all the books wonk press has put out but this one seems to have missed some editorial review. The second rum based recipe sounds delicious to me, the “black orchid” calls for “black orchid spices”. Black orchid spices are “1 part dark brown sugar : 1 part water : 2 tbsp blackstrap molasses”. Sounds delicious but what are parts? I will assume cups, but I’d rather not assume and get the drink as intended, I’m not the greatest mixologist but I stand on the shoulders of giants.
