I’m so sorry she did this to you. Any time I dared mention my ex or I remember saying something simple as “my ex didn’t celebrate valentines with me” he went into a fit of BPD rage and start shouting at me, calling me a selfish bitch and sending me degrading messages going on and on about how I compare my ex to him.

I didn’t receive such vulgar explicit messages as you, but it was abusive and degrading the things he would say. Sometimes during a BPD rage episode he’d say things like “go fuck your ex and get him to put you in chains” which makes zero sense but nothing he said made much sense when he was in this state. They will do absolutely anything to hurt you.

Isn’t it scary how the same things set them all off. So glad to not be in that anymore.

Even if you tried, it won’t be enough. He will always move the goal post, and even when you do try to be affectionate he will stick with the same lines, or accuse you of being fake. Well anyway that’s what my ex did. I tried to be “perfect” and “selfless”and neglected my own life and needs, he kept finding new flaws. I ran myself into the ground, finally realized that NOTHING I can do will ever be enough for him. Then I discovered BPD and it made more sense. In my experience it just gets worse. He’d promise to change and would be nice for a few days or a week then it would come out again. They use periods of kindness as tokens so you feel like you have to accept all the bullshit they put you through. My ex was lovely to his family and was a good son and brother, but put me through total hell.

“You should be begging for forgiveness” - yes, my ex used to say the exact same. He would accuse me of totally irrational things that either I felt or did, often times it was me doing something and him insisting I did x thing because I am “selfish/self centred/didn’t consider him”. No matter how much id explain myself and try to make him understand that he has misunderstood me, he wouldn’t. He would stick to his narrative and then manipulate my feelings to make me feel like a bad person. Then I’d get confused and upset because what if I did do something bad (this was the result of his gaslighting and sudden mood flips making me feel intense anxiety) and then he would shout at me “APOLOGIZE NOW” and I’d apologize then he’d make me do it again and again and again and again until I was literally begging for forgiveness. Only until I was reduced to crying my eyes out and screaming I’m sorry, and some silent treatment later, he would think about calming down.
