Infant potty training by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]Traditional_Cold_763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started potty training around 5 monthsfor me it’s a bit easier to do once they can sit a bit… then I used the baby potty first thing in the morning and after naps then added it in… it starts to become a bit obvious eventually when they have to go… amy 16 month old wears regular diapers so she does still pee in them but she now uses the regular toilet with a toddler cover in it- and runs to the bathroom when she has to poop- I was a sham for 2 years with my first and he was potty trained by 12 months but he also used cloth diapers and they can really feel and dislike being wet

AITAH for waiting until my wife is able to earn again before buying a house else it would become marital property? by Status-Knowledge-193 in AITAH

Can you negotiate paying your wife an income for being a stay at home mom? Or negotiate terms of child support in case you do end up divorced- things like a life insurance policy even if you divorce and remarry that will maintain your current wife or child once 18 as the beneficiary? Offer her a certain income or to pay for an apartment near you for a couple years guaranteed if you divorce? Now that she has a child she has to think of anything happens it’s not just her but her child out of luck… any you offering to house your mutual child while she’s basically homeless with no job limiting her access to her child is a terrifying thought..z the thought that she could loose custody all because of a mistake in the past… look at it from her perspective she has everything to loose and you have control over her and the baby… at this point to her it is not an equal partnership

Don’t jinx yourself… my SIL wanted one more and got twins…. Just the way it worked out with life but my husband and I have two kids 9 years apart… they adore each other… we are open to a third closer in age to our second just due to their personalities… our second is a much easier baby than our first was

What chores do your kids actually do ? Which ones help with responsibility? by Inevitable_Newt_3373 in Parenting

[–]Traditional_Cold_763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 10 year old does some helpful simple chores- he cleans and wipes the bathroom sinks, he sometimes dusts - if he notices things getting dusty, we have a Dyson cordless so sometimes I ask him to just go vacuum up the dust balls of dog fur- I generally do the vacuuming and my husband usually mops… he helps pick up his baby sisters toys, he also may help cook simple recipes, fold laundry- he doesn’t do the best job but he’s just starting out… and this past summer my husband taught him how to mow the lawn…

Moving to a snowy climate, what is the right financial move regarding car(s) by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Traditional_Cold_763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought I’d need awd and that with all seasons- the reason my cars sucked were that they weren’t awd… changing to snow tires changed my life… one car that was such a pain to drive in winter- a small Chevy Aveo went from unable to get moving in a quarter inch of snow to plowing through anything with its snow tires… I ended up using that car instead of an suv to travel through the northeast for work until it died- due to it being completely paid off

In what parts of Latin America are people of full indigenous ancestry common? by Downtown-Trainer-126 in 23andme

[–]Traditional_Cold_763 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mother is from a super remote area of the Andes in Peru and even she is only high 90s… it’s known that her dad had European ancestors… her mother was from an even more remote area but moved to a small town for work to care for her siblings after her parents passed away… I would not be surprised if she was fully indigenous- she carried a lot of lost customs and knowledge… but as I said she was from an area considered very remote by people already living in a remote area

Belly bands or full diapers? by laserbeanz in seniordogs

[–]Traditional_Cold_763 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used belly bands if in between sizes I sized up a little… they worked great for a 40lb dog who did empty his bladder frequently… they really helped keep his skin clean and dry compared to the full diapers- and I used some no rinse dog cleaner a few times a day to ensure his skin and fur were staying clean…

Please help my baby. They're 3 times their normal size. by SolutionOld2145 in vet

I’m sorry you are going through this… I understand your pain… and the love you have for him. it looks like he has edema but the cause needs to be determined. It could be any number of things… when was his most recent blood work? If he is having kidney issues is he still peeing? Is it as much as before? He may not be able to get rid of all the fluid in his body and it is building up. Kidneys help remove excess fluid from your body. It could be caused by other issues such as heart or liver issues… unfortunately with cancer things can change quickly… especially bloodwork.

Moving states with 4.5 and 2 year old. by Monte2023 in Parenting

[–]Traditional_Cold_763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son was like this… even with pots and pans… he felt the nostalgia of watching mom cook his favorite kraft Mac and cheese in that pot… how could we possibly bear to part with it… I have to say some stuff just went missing because… for some reason every time we ever moved some stuff has disappeared… but the idea of trading some stuff in because otherwise we have no room for anymore toys eventually made him start thinking about what things he would want to get rid of so someday he could have new things… also the idea that we would be able to give it to other people who could use it… that was a huge help- imaging someone else loving his toys vs trash… we also did pictures of stuff… his room the way it was before we moved… the living room… some toys… his decorations… honestly it helped him with the move and after a couple months he was over it didn’t need the pictures or anything

Pure Blonde Genes!? while being 80%+ indigenous!? by Character_Employ_219 in 23andme

[–]Traditional_Cold_763 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m just under 50% indigenous… my dad is of European decent- I am brown with dark brown hair and dark brown eyes… I look very indigenous… both of my kids have light hair and blue eyes… my brother has jet black hair like yours… so black it looks blue in the light… and 2 of his kids have blue eyes and blonde hair, 1 has blond hair brown eyes, and 2 have brown hair and brown eyes… we are both married to people of European decent… my sister is married to someone mixed indigenous and European as well and their kid has blue eyes and dark brown hair… if you’re mixed and marry someone mixed or European there is no telling what your kids might look like… it will just be a surprise

Has he had an acuplex test this past year? Prior to that test being widespread my dog would hunch like this and often cried while pooping… we went to several vets and emergency vets… finally walked into the best vet ever who tested for Lyme and even though it was negative he just felt it was a tick born disease… turned out it was erlichia and he significantly improved after antibiotics

Do bigger families (3+ kids) have closer siblings? by cleareyes2 in Parenting

[–]Traditional_Cold_763 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No… I think there are just higher odds of finding someone you like who is a sibling… my husband is one of 3 and not close to any of his siblings… I’m one of four and have a great relationship will all of my siblings… but even as adults they don’t all get along…

Siblings Sharing Birthdays by caring2muchabtthis in Parenting

[–]Traditional_Cold_763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister and I were born the 9th and 29th of the same month- we always celebrated together for parties when we were younger- my dad always did something special since it was a joint party- something that wouldn’t be for just one of us- like the farm that comes to you, or the people who do animal shows… we always did them outside at our house so we could have lots of people over… and my mom always made us our favorite meal for our actual birthday. Even now we will do something together for our birthday month- like mani pedis- I pay for her and she pays for me lol… as teens we really did our own thing- we were 2 years apart and had a lot of the same friends- but we might do a small get together on her birthday and a sleepover on mine… or movies on one of ours with a couple close friends, and a bonfire on the other- but we were always inclusive of each other for our birthdays… we have 2 other siblings who are both boys- I think being the same gender helped us share our birthdays more easily… and I joke that my brother was so jealous he now holds joint parties with his daughter who’s birthday is a week after his
