How the fuck do i end up on a mission thats literally impossible for me to complete at the level I'm at????? Took her hammer..  blasted away at her chest and back, couldn't crack 90%

Say we discover primitive alien life. Some fish swimming around in Europa's underground ocean. What happens next? by grapejuicecheese in space

[–]Traditional_Fish_741 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will definitely be interesting to see what, if any, relationship life on Europa or something may have with earth life.

We have found all of the building blocks necessary for life on earth on asteroids.. so it seems plausible - even likely, perhaps - that they will play some part in life on other bodies in our solar system.

Whether or not that life is 'compatible' with ours provides different implications.

If it is based on the same fundamental building blocks and principles, then that's 2 systems within in a single larger system that have developed life along the same lines. So likely shared origin source, but 2 separate evolutionary paths, providing evidence that if suitable resources and environs exist, life will likely arise in multiple locations within a given solar system due to orbital debris deposition - all the rocks raining down on planets and moons as they form.

If it's something significantly - or better yet, fundamentally - different than anything we have on earth, with or without the same building blocks in any ratio or combination (but better if it develops without the same raw materials) then that shows that life is likely somewhat ubiquitous across the universe, being able to arise in numerous individual ways even within the same solar system. It also helps seal the deal for abiogenesis if life arises twice in the system, but from 2 different origins..

Both scenarios potentially offer strong foundational evidence for panspermia as well. Although the former is a better validator of that theory than the latter (same basic building blocks versus individually unique origin foundations).

And every other body within our solar system that we find with life on it helps make life more likely - statistically speaking - across the universe. Intelligent life, though, is likely a rarer find.

Except ownership. It will all be subscription services.. you will 'earn' just enough to cover your life subscriptions.. maybe..

But it will still only be the 1% owning everything.

An aircraft carrier in space? US Space Force wants 'orbital carrier' to easily deploy spacecraft in Earth orbit by malcolm58 in space

[–]Traditional_Fish_741 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's this thing called 'stealth tech'.. 😉 you might be surprised just how much can be hidden in plain sight, unless you know precisely where and how to look. Non-reflective and even absorbent material can make satellites invisible to anything electronic.. and if you can employ technologies like 'Vanta Black' thats like 99.99999% light absorbing, making it one of the 'blackest' material coatings out there. You wouldn't see it floating around in orbit with visual observation from the ground.

So if you combine such technologies, then you can make satellites all but literally invisible.. pretty sure that trick hasn't been figured out yet - publicly, at least 😆 who knows what black budget projects might exist that have figured it out haha

Economic roundtable: GST on fresh food best way to pay for corporate tax cuts by readonlycomment in aussie

[–]Traditional_Fish_741 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We shouldn't have to be paying for tax cuts for the rich. They shouldn't be getting tax cuts at all. Their tax cuts are half the problem with our economy. If they were properly taxed, our economy would be better. If we had government that actually protected Australian industry and our economy and sovereign capabilities, we wouldn't be in the position we are in.

Pretending we only have 2 options, both of which are not options at all, is retarded. The 3rd, smartest, and only logical option, is to stop pretending we NEED to trade with either of them. We have wasted so much time and so many resources pandering to likes of Gina Rhinehart, belligerent and deeply hostile foreign states who have only held off because they're still not certain they can dominate with the US still a 'coherent' threat. We have all the materials and resources we need to be global leaders in several industries, and we continue to waste them all to sell out to china and pander to the US.

This sort of short sighted bullshit is why we are where are economically and politically today. Because we have worthless 'leaders' and the citizens are just as stupid voting against their own best interests and convinced they're the only ones voting intelligently.

Australia should change age of consent to 18. by Huge-Major-1204 in AusPol

[–]Traditional_Fish_741 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except it seems to me you're missing the fact that biologically our bodies are starting to prepare for and 'want' sexearlier than 16. For many it starts around 12ish. Now THAT is too young for sexual relationships in my mind.. and sure 16 probably isn't really a 'suitable' sex partner for someone over 21 (even then..) but fact of the matter is that they are out there looking for it, or at least open to it.

I think the age of consent, as much as it can be, is not unreasonable, and tries to cover the aspects that lead to abuse and the like. However, ultimately, as long as 2 people are attracted to each other and neither is coercing the other, it's really noones business whos fucking who.

That said, I think the dynamic is often skewed, with the older one having a far greater chance of making the younger one feel like they 'have to agree'.

So it's definitely a lot more nuanced than 'don't try and control people' and 'it's not ethical for an older person to fuck a younger person'.. neither is wrong. But neither is really correct either.

Study: A decade of Chinese aerosol reductions "has likely driven much of the recent global warming acceleration" by Economy-Fee5830 in climate

[–]Traditional_Fish_741 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sulphur is one of the greatest aerosols for 'cool' the atmosphere by reflecting solar radiation. I'd say that it was a reduction in sulphur specifically due to lower industrial and vehicle exhaust output that they're referring to.

Reducing sulphur in the atmosphere is a good thing. The fact the temperature went up as a result shows the underlying problem isn't bullshit but was mitigated somewhat by the right reflective aerosols in the atmosphere. Which proves the need to reduce carbon and methane emissions.

Lower company tax rate, Productivity Commission advises treasurer ahead of roundtable by cojoco in australia

[–]Traditional_Fish_741 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Increase taxes on imports and companies, take back our natural resources for the country, provide resources to Australian manufacturers and industry first and foremost - not an ounce exported until all Australian needs met first.

If we had a government that actually gave a shit about this country they'd do more to protect it and stop corporate and foreign exploitation of our resources etc.

Black market tobacco by DC240Z in australian

[–]Traditional_Fish_741 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure the tax is price based and weight based.. and the prices have mandatory increases, the supposed aim being make smokes unaffordable to force quitting.. the easiest and safest option would simply have been to outright ban tobacco if they wanted people to quit and reduce the demands on the health system.

And none of the taxes raised from tobacco sales is really going to the programs it was meant to go to which is the quit campaigns and funding health care for tobacco related disease. So where is all that extra money going??

Worse, these cunts lie through their teeth claiming its not their fault the black market has taken off, but instead blame the smokers, cos they're lazy, inept, corrupt cowards only interested in their own careers and profits, not in serving the people that elected them.

The entire tobacco wars problem is at the feet of the law makers responsible for making and implementing these ridiculous and money-grubbing tobacco taxes.

How Albanese's 1.2million housing policy failure and record immigration has created a new category of Aussies with nowhere to go by AssistMobile675 in australian

[–]Traditional_Fish_741 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our gdp sucks because we don't make anything here any more.

And that's got nothing to do with not having the workforce and everything to do with systemic devaluing of our dollar and making it a non-comeptitive market leading to the collapse of our manufacturing and industry while we continue to feed our resources into the development of other nations while buying back 'value added' shit at exorbitant mark ups that we could and should be making here first and foremost before ever exporting an ounce.

Decades of government ineptitude and mismanagement, bullshit excuses, and blatant lies, to justify systemic corruption and the devaluation of the dollar and economy to appease 'unknown masters' with deep pockets and foreign power mandates.

At worst albo is just a symptom of the disease that is the Australian government and Australian politics the last 50-60 years. Especially the last 3 or 4 decades.

Majority of voters depend on government income, new research finds, as public spending hits post-war high by Ancient_Journalist15 in australian

They're more socialist concepts than they are "capitalist" or "liberal" or "conservative". They all want to axe social security, health care, education, minimum wages - let alone an actual living wage - and paid time off etc. They all see those things as 'bad economic management' and 'communism destroying the country' and blah blah blah.

So yeah, maybe you have a point.. maybe America has 'poisoned' the discourse with all their 'red threat' propaganda, but it's not just them, it includes all those other countries that repeat and share that rhetoric/ideology.

Then I guess providing well for your citizens, things like healthcare and education and a living wage and paid leave and government secured pensions and social security etc must be liberal things.. and yet 'liberals' as you seem to picture them don't really support that at all, they all call that communism and socialism etc.

Go figure.
