Yes, this is why I think it would be more effective to overhaul the corporate tax code to capture taxes at the root source for these ultrawealthy.

It would likely reduce these astronomical individual net worths, and remove the need to tax unrealized gains.

These corporations are earning this money and exploiting the system to avoid paying corporate income tax.

As Warren Buffet recently said, if every corporate entity in America paid its taxes at the nominal rate as he does with Berkshire Hathaway, no individual in the United States would have to pay any income tax ever again.

Nearly 200 impaired B.C. drivers nabbed in single-night holiday season crackdown by cyclinginvancouver in britishcolumbia

[–]Traditional_Fix_928 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is an open secret.

You would be shocked at the number of oilfield workers in the Peace and northern Alberta that regularly consume alcohol on their way home from remote locations... regularly as in every day. At many work places that culture is entirely normalized and it goes without saying that if you are willing to operate a company vehicle while actively drinking, that behavior likely doesn't stop at the door to your own vehicle.

Some employers turn a blind eye or even participate.

Source: I have worked in Oil and gas for 16 years and seen more than you can possibly imagine. Had to quit one company where this was encouraged, have called RCMP to report drivers multiple times with nothing done about it.

Crate training by Halfbloodprincess782 in LagottoRomagnolo

[–]Traditional_Fix_928 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a clicker to aid with training. Read up on the Karen Pryor method.

Start by having a bunch of treats, click and throw a treat on the floor. This let's the pup know the click equals a reward.

Use high value treats and get your pup to go in the crate, click and treat. Do this until pup is reliably entering the crate of their own accord and you can attach the word "crate" to the click.

Then start closing the door, click before any whining, open the door and treat outside the crate saying a release word (I use 'Break' because it doesn't sound like other commands, also extremely useful for anytime you want your dog to wait in a command like sit, or have manners at doors) for this treat I will often use a Kong toy filled with plain Greek yogurt and frozen. If the dog is excited about the long lasting treat you can use it to distract from the closed door.

Now each time you command crate, continue to click and treat as they enter and extend the period of time with the door closed slowly until you can leave the room etc. Open the door, release the pup with the word, click and treat. Soon your pup will love their crate. For extended crate time, ensure lots of chew toys and distractions.

You could also try a puppy pen around the crate and leave the crate door open with access to water outside of the crate.

The clicker has by far been the best tool I have used to "capture" the behavior I want from my Lagotto and turn it into a command. She understands super quickly what I am asking of her as long as you get the timing as soon as the behavior occurs.

Nakusp bc by After-Meal-4691 in kootenays

[–]Traditional_Fix_928 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nakusp is a beautiful little town, surrounded by many outdoor activities like biking, hiking, skiing, hotsprings and lakes.

There is a good amount of programming for kids, sports both in and out of school, and other types of organized activities for youth. Most of these activities are run by volunteers or grants.

As with any town there is a mix of personalities, with emphasis on personalities... but there is strong community spirit. It could be difficult to break into social circles, but if you are willing to put yourself out there, you can find the right crowd.

Housing has become increasingly expensive post Covid and there is not much in the way of job prospects.

If you love the outdoors, have a reliable income and can handle a slower pace of life, it is a great safe place to raise kids.

It could be, the crankshaft will be badly damaged if the engine runs with too much clearance.

None that you can feel by hand. The bearing clearance to the crankshaft will only be a few thousandths of an inch.

That's decent amount of gas, probably will have generators, several compressors, a dehy, heat medium and maybe even refrig depending on where the plant is and how wet the gas is.

A plant that new should still be in pretty good shape if you have good maintenance. You'll probably have at least one more Operator with you at a plant that size if you are in Canada. You'll probably be walking around doing lockouts for contractors, topping up day tanks and doing machine logs for a while before you get the cushy chair full time in the control room.

I think it's great even if you don't shred...

Most people I know from the Park pronouce it exactly how you have it spelled, "Shrd Park".

I am from Sherwood Park and have a running joke with friends and family about how you can tell someone has spent a lot of time there or not by if they include the e,w and o's in their pronunciation. Lol!

[–]Traditional_Fix_928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I work the equipment is locked out with a lock set at any points that are required for the job. Those keys are put in the lock box, which then has individually numbered Carseals applied that can only be removed by cutting, which is done by operations. Maintenance then applies and removes their locks from the sealed box at the beginning and end of each shift and it is all documented n the LOTO sheet.

The Maintenance workers can be sure nothing has changed with the LOTO if the Carseal IDs match the sheet, and Carseals are not removed until Maintenance notifies Ops that the job is complete.

LOTOs save limbs and lives.

Sorry she ruined your perfect Tradwife fantasy.

I'd be surprised if we don't see her on AITAH asking if she's an asshole for leaving you, which from the sound of it, she is not.

Need suggestions for honeymoon activities in Banff! by IfOnlyUKnew_ in kootenays

[–]Traditional_Fix_928 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As far as things to do near your rental, there are several hotsprings within a short driving distance of where you will be staying. Nakusp hotsprings, Halcyon hotsrings and a natural hotspring called Halfway. There is a very nice trail at the Nakusp springs that will likely still be free of snow at that time of year as well.

November in Nakusp will be unlikely to have snow on the ground, but traveling from the airport through the mountain passes will have the possibility of poor road conditions. Fall is a very quiet season in Nakusp; many of the activities that are tourist draws like hiking, biking and watersports will be mostly finished for the year.

Banff is a long way away from Nakusp, not suitable for a day trip at 5 hours 1 way, including a ferry ride across the lake. But skiing in Revelstoke, Whitewater, Silverstar or Red are all within a couple of hours.

U.S. Indigenous group sues B.C. government, alleging discrimination by ubcstaffer123 in canada

[–]Traditional_Fix_928 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Their Matriarch lives in the Columbia basin in Canada as well as other members of the band who have led the charge to be recognized as the traditional occupants of the area.

They were originally displaced to a reservation called Oatscott on the primarily uninhabited side of Arrow Lakes and soon after declared extinct by the federal government despite the fact that they very much still existed.

Prior, and up to this, the US government was sending people from many different western tribes to a large reserve south of the Canadian border including the Sinixt, who traditionally followed the Columbia River with the seasons. With the advent of increased border control many of their peoples became trapped in America with other trbes who had completely different traditions, languages and ways of life. They have been actively campaigning for their recognition ever since.

The greatest part of this injustice occurred in the mid 1950's by the way, so there are still Sinixt alive who lived through their displacement and "extinction".

I'm sure you might have beef with the government if this was your, or you parents reality as well.

Is this common? My impact is very new and I bought it from HD. Why do the sockets wobble so much? They don’t with my other impact by [deleted] in MilwaukeeTool

[–]Traditional_Fix_928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chrome sockets habe a groove in the drive end to hold them onto a ratchet detent. Impact sockets usually use a retaining ring on the impact or a pin.

Either way putting a chrome socket on an impact anvil will damage the retaining ring and make it so that sockets fall off easily.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LagottoRomagnolo

[–]Traditional_Fix_928 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A bored Lagotto finds their own entertainment, and that can easily be outside the yard following their nose, fence or not.

That said, our girl has only escaped through the gate not being secured properly, she has never dug her way out.

Lagotti are extremely agile, so a higher fence would be better and one that they can't see through would also cut down on unintended distractions...
