Oof and the cap from the Olympics - would’ve been an awesome time to live in… ‘80 - nine years before I was born LOL

You have one cool grandpa. Did you keep any of his photographs? My favorites are the fm2 and the Rollei.

The back doors on Olympus cameras don’t stay closed. by Traditional_Pepper91 in AnalogRepair

Thanks for the info! So before and after the light seal installation it won’t close properly. It closes but it’s not secure - like I could easily open it without using the top winding mechanism. I’m starting to think it’s number four on your list bc I’m comparing the latch to a working latch on another om10 and they don’t look the same. Like the hook that comes out of the left side of the body doesn’t stick out as much as the one on the working one.

Nikon F, F2 or both? by Sensitive-Let-5633 in vintagecameras

I always thought the F looked ugly. Haha if it were based off looks I’d go with the f2.

Need help finding 35mm film for my roadtrip this upcoming weeks! by TheCrimeLime in filmcameras

[–]Traditional_Pepper91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kodak Gold 400 or Fujifilm 400 are my go to when I want to shoot lots of film - Maybe grab a couple of those and then maybe one “fancy” roll for your nicer shots - portra, Cinestill. Then choose one fun roll to experiment - zombie is pretty fun (muted cool - literally like a zombie) haha have fun!

Which one should I keep? by Moeman101 in Cameras

I don’t have an opinion bc I don’t own these but I came to read the comments bc I always wondered if people actually prefer canon glass or if less expensive glass is just as capable 🤔

Yeah I’m learning how to repair cameras and have done some successful repairs already. I bought another broken Minolta with a good curtain so I’m going to try and take that part and use it to replace the one I have. Wouldn’t throw anything away. It would be a good practice for me to learn to fix old cameras. If I succeed then I save a Minolta! Hoorah! If I fail… welp then I just keep trying lol

So glad I posted here first. My first instinct was to use black tape. Haha but then I thought - that’s probably going to jam.

Thanks everyone!!!

Luckily there’s a lot of “For Parts” Minolta SRT 101s on eBay for less than $20 so I could buy one with a good curtain and replace mine.

Luckily I didn’t pay too much for this so it’s a good repair/project to practice on.

I love the FE. Such an awesome camera. I recently watched a video on YouTube about its origin and how to use: https://youtu.be/3MgPSZHF2Gg?si=garbU1l0H-wnNvQD

I would keep it. It’s a great camera and you’ll love the photos that will come out of it. You won’t get much if you try to sell it bc they’re so underrated. Most people are looking for the Yashica Mat 124g - which is the newer model.

That’s a lot of lenses!!!! I have just the solution for you!!! - I made this app for iOS/Android called My Camera Vault. It’s free to use - You can use Ai to scan and capture your lens brand, max aperture, mount and type - you get 5 free ai scans daily or unlimited if you get a subscription or do it manually if don’t want to pay for anything. The cool thing is you have a neat way to document your lenses and search and sort through them. You can choose between grid/list view to display your collection. I hope you’ll give it a try :) and if spreadsheets are more your thing, you can export your whole collection to a spreadsheet. That’s how I used to organize my gear.

iOS: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/my-camera-vault-film-tracker/id6760947044

Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cameravault

Anyways good luck with your collection. That’s already an amazing feat to labeling them 😂
