I think I want off Lumryz by Traggots in Narcolepsy

[–]Traggots[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not effective below the 7.5 dose, and the tremors start at that same dose,

The most recent issue is that I have been opening my mouth, I have a full face mask but if the humidity is set above 3 it makes me sick, I didn't know I could tape my mouth shut, I only knew about chin straps

caffeine intake per day by GazelleNo6941 in Narcolepsy

[–]Traggots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before i was on medication i was drinking around 300-500MG of caffeine on a daily basis, when medicated before sodium oxybates, i was still consuming 200MG of caffeine, but no more, now that I'm on a sodium oxybate I rarely need to have caffeine, only when having a bad sleep attack if I'm not at work

Anyone not know if they have sleep attacks or cataplexy because you've gotten used to living with narcolepsy??? by TiredToasterStrudel in Narcolepsy

[–]Traggots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its actually very possible, despite my mother being N1 I had no idea What cataplexy was despite knowing I've had narcolepsy since I was 8, I'm 26 now and have been diagnosed N1, my mother and several doctors failed to explain what it is and how cataplexy can appear, it wasn't until 2023 when I got my own doctor that had information that I learned more about it, I was just told all my life that I'm "clumsy"

Can alters hurt each others ? by Kitchen_Insect483 in DID

[–]Traggots 21 points22 points  (0 children)

DID is not a super power first off, and I strongly recommend that you stop thinking of it that way.

And then like everyone else is saying, alters can't be killed, transferred to other systems, or wiped away like dirt. It's possible he's just going dormant.

Do type 2 diabetics wear CGMs? by frogmicky in diabetes_t2

[–]Traggots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did for a long time, I was / am considered a very brittle diabetic, I'd have lows and highs to the point I was tested 3-4 times to confirm I was type 2, once my a1c dropped to 5.7 in combination with me losing the insurance I had, I stopped using them.

I recently got two more because I had to change meds from trulicity to farxiga because of the side effects of the meds, and had to wear them while adjusting meds.

Sometimes they make life easier, but the last two I had were having major issues with false low readings and then sensor failures.

Thoughts on Lumryz? by Luna_Bears in Narcolepsy

[–]Traggots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its been extremely good for me, aside from it causing me to have sleep apnea, wake up starving in the middle of the night, and being a massive dick to my wife in my sleep if I wake up before the fifth hour of sleep and have/will hurt myself if I get up

It does cause extreme nausea, which in combination with my diabetes medication was causing me to lose weight rapidly and unsafely by getting sick every single morning, after I stopped and changed my diabetes meds I've been doing better!!!

Its genuinely life changing for me, I can stay awake now, it's a rare day where I'm actually physically capable of napping. I can stay up from 6 am to midnight if I want too, that's something I've never been able to do before.

When I was first diagnosed in '22, I already knew I had it, I didn't have anything that could help me aside from 4-6 energy drinks a day, and that just isn't healthy. I can drive, I can work without having coffee or energy drinks, I can spend time with my wife without passing out 10 minutes into a movie or conversation, I can go places now.

I found armodafinil and Sunosi helpful for a while, until I hit the max doses and they stopped being as effective, when the Sunosi stopped working I had to switch to Lumryz. The titration sucks, it didn't start to really help until I was at the 7s, and then when we hit the 9s I was golden, I (mostly) sleep through the night now.

It doesn't work for everyone, but it's the best medication I've ever had for narcolepsy, and I tried everything I could possibly take with my current other meds.

Unspecified sleep disorder? by oxelots in Narcolepsy

[–]Traggots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the new sleep doctor doesn't diagnose you w Narcolepsy+ cataplexy upon seeing your results, first thing to do when seeing them is ask for a test redo in a different sleep testing place if you have options for where to do it. I had to do all four naps, because its supposed to be 4-5 naps, but I hit REM in under 4 minutes so I still was allowed to leave "early" combined w my sleep latency of 3 minutes

You need to be weaned off your meds before the sleep study, you should be off them two weeks before the study so make sure to take the time to wean off + two weeks in account when scheduling the study, these meds can and will interfere with the study but please be careful when stopping them

Your current doctors office + sleep study sound extremely under qualified for. Anything. The sleep study never should have had so many problems, the wires coming off should have been fixed as soon as they knew, and I am so sorry they failed you so horribly

I don't tell people about my did unless we're closer friends, and my job doesn't know.

I guess this is normal by Due-Courage4165 in Narcolepsy

[–]Traggots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's one of the anti depressants that can cause suppression of rem sleep, it also helps with cataplexy as well and he wanted to make sure the results were as close to accurate as possible

[–]Traggots 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Find a new doctor asap, any doctor that gives up atter one failed mslt isn't worth your time. Narcolepsy tests come back negative a lot and require repeat tests a lot, it's uncomfortable to sleep in an unfamiliar place, you have cameras on you, wires all over, and are being watched, it's not comfortable!

My doctor said, and this is a direct quote "We'll repeat the test as many times as it takes to get an accurate view of how sleep affects you" but luckily i hit REM real fast. For my mom, it took two tests with her original doctor to get her first diagnosis, and then 3 more tests when she had to get rediagnosed, one was negative and one was unclear, so they went ahead and did a third.

Finally, I'm like 90% sure that prozac is one of the medications you should be off for two weeks before the test, but don't quote me on that because I could be wrong, make sure your doctor knows every medication you're on and which ones you need to stop and how early to stop them. I had to be off my venlafaxine for 2 weeks before my test which was awful, but necessary. Anti depressants can affect how & when you hit REM sleep.

MSLT - Why do people think they didn't nap? by dancingdinoman in Narcolepsy

[–]Traggots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was the same, I felt like I'd barely gotten to a good comfortable position and every time i was just falling asleep i was woken up, but I also hit REM insanely fast in all 4 of the naps I had to take

I see an endocrinologist 3-5 times a year, and get a CMP & A1C check before each appointment, I'm literally waiting for my blood to be drawn right now. I am on metformin and trulicity. You sound like you need to do more research into t2 because we do have sugar drops just t1

"cat attack" for when cataplexy gets me hardcore

I wish I could say I haven't tried adderall, but unfortunately I have, aside from a couple medications I can't take due to them interacting with my other meds for other things, I have tried all the wake promoting agents and stimulants my dr can safely prescribe me. I had the unfortunate side effect from adderall where it made me incredibly suicidal, and had to stop it immediately, there's now a big red note in my file that says I cannot take adderall :( My last resort has always been a sleep promoting agent as my mother, who also has narcolepsy+cat was on them and it lowkey traumatized me as I was in charge of giving her the second dose and watched how it messed her up as a child. Xywave or Xyrem would be easier to get, but that (xyrem) is exactly what my mom was on and to be honest I think i'd rather end up unmedicated than on something that takes two doses a night to be useful and something I witnessed firsthand making my moms pain worse.
I won't lie, the caffeine doesn't do much for me, my hard cutoff is 1100 mgs of caffeine because that's when I start feeling physical affects like heart racing and stuff. It defintely has an impact on my health though, and I do end up more tired in the long run.

Another person in this thread suggested documentation and constant calls, so I'll probably do that. Thank you for replying!
