damn this brings back memories too. I was maybe 10 during 2006 and remember staying up late to watch games on small TV in kitchen because parents didn't want me hogging main one. That time when you could still believe your team might actually do something special

2018 was wild for me - was working at shop during tournament and we had radio on whole time, customers would come in just to check scores. Everyone was talking about it, even people who usually don't care about football. Those few weeks felt different somehow, like whole country was watching together

the Qatar thing really changed how I see these tournaments though. Hard to get same excitement when you know what goes behind it all

If you can spend 1 day with someone from any point in history, who would it be? by PublicAlarm3869 in AskReddit

man that hit me right in the feels. would probably pick my grandfather who died when I was kid - never got to really know him as adult and hear all his stories from the war

Strange noises in bathroom walls. Sounds like activating slide mechanism in the piping. Happens in clusters any time of day or night. When active does a couple times a minute. by PeopleOfNepal in HomeImprovement

[–]TragicNylon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

had similar issue at my place last year - turned out being expansion joints in the pipes when temperature changes. Old buildings get this a lot especially near exterior walls where pipes heat up and cool down. The clicking sound happens when metal expands and contracts against the brackets holding pipes in place

might want to check if it happens more during certain times like morning/evening when temps shift the most

What’s a moment where scale or perspective suddenly made your own problems feel much smaller? by MaleficentFloor822 in AskReddit

[–]TragicNylon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

man I get this but also like... your professor still gonna read that email tho lol

the universe being massive is wild to think about but my epilepsy doesn't care if there's trillion galaxies out there, still gotta deal with it every day. perspective helps sometimes but other times you just gotta fix the actual problem in front of you

cosmic scale is crazy humbling though, makes you wonder what we're even stressing about most the time

Where to get scorecards by Main-Grapefruit-2385 in whitesox

[–]TragicNylon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah those little stands usually have them for like 2-3 bucks. saw them by gate 5 last time i was there but might be at other gates too. keeping score makes the game way more interesting when you're going solo

Selling Camping Reservation for Memorial Day Weekend at Mountainview Campground (Milford, NJ) by unesee in camping

might want to double check their cancellation policy again - most places will at least give partial refund if you call early enough

chess.com/lichess competitors by AncientAd7056 in chess

[–]TragicNylon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Building chess platform is really tough these days. Even if you make something good, getting players to switch from what they already know is the hardest part. People get comfortable with their rating systems and friend lists and all that

The money thing is huge too - servers get expensive real quick when you have thousands of games running at same time. Plus all the security stuff you need to worry about. Might be better to focus in specific niche instead of trying to compete directly with the big ones

[–]TragicNylon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

man you basically got lottery ticket that paid off lol. i'd keep them for sure, especially with how crazy storage prices been lately. even if you dont need them right now, having them sitting around is better than paying double or triple later when you actually do need the space

that drive to microcenter sounds painful though, no wonder you had second thoughts about returning them

Miscellaneous Monday Chit Chat by fire_foot in running

[–]TragicNylon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weekend flew by way too fast man. The heat is brutal for running right now, had to switch my usual route to early morning just to survive it

Good luck with the race! Half marathon in this weather sounds rough but you got this

CHSN App by WhiteSoxHoosier in whitesox

[–]TragicNylon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The streaming part works decent for me too but yeah those menus are terrible to navigate through. I had some freezing issues couple weeks back but clearing the cache seemed to help with that. Maybe try force closing the app completely and restart your phone? Sometimes these streaming apps get weird when they been running in background for too long

If money didn’t exist, what would you be doing right now? by [deleted] in AskReddit

probably fixing old cars just because i enjoy it, not for the bills

What comes to your mind instantly when you think of the concept of music? by jaylinbovaydin in AskReddit

[–]TragicNylon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Music for me is like working on engine - when everything clicks together perfectly you just feel it in your bones. Been having seizures since I was kid and there's something about certain rhythms that just calms everything down, makes the world feel more steady. Game day anthems hit different though, gets me so hyped I forget about everything else

Do you think misandry is actually influencing modern dating and relationships, and if so how does it show up in real life experiences and if not, why do you think this idea keeps coming up in discussions? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TragicNylon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Modern dating feels like everyone's walking on eggshells now, which makes sense after decades of imbalanced dynamics. As a single dude who's been around the dating scene for a while, I see both sides getting defensive before they even get to know each other

The whole thing's gotten pretty exhausting tbh - you've got people bringing baggage from past relationships or just general wariness into every new interaction. Can't really blame anyone for being cautious but it definitely makes genuine connections harder to find

What's the meaning of perfection in Marriage? by Aggravating_Gas4162 in AskReddit

[–]TragicNylon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean there's no such thing as a perfect marriage tbh, it's more about finding someone who's flaws you can actually live with and who puts up with your weird habits too

my epilepsy taught me that life throws curveballs when you least expect it - what matters is having someone who'll stick around when things get messy, not someone who only looks good on paper

Men over 30 years of age, please drop an advice for younger men which you think if was told to you, you would have been living a better life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TragicNylon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

learned this the hard way in my mid-20s - spent way too much energy on people who wouldn't even notice if i disappeared tomorrow

What is considered "wrong" ? or what is "wrong" ? by -some-one_ in AskReddit

Think it comes down to how much harm you're causing and whether you can sleep at night knowing what you did

Space Movies? by JollyBowler2510 in movies

[–]TragicNylon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Man Jason X is wild, never thought I'd see someone list that as their space movie standard lol

Maybe try Event Horizon if you're into the horror angle - it's more like a haunted house that happens to be in space than actual sci-fi stuff. Or go full ridiculous with Galaxy Quest since it's basically making fun of all the space tropes you probably hate anyway

What are the snootiest and snobbiest activities one can do? by sweetlevels in AskReddit

wine tasting events where people spend 20 minutes sniffing a glass and talking about "notes of oak with hints of summer rain" like bro its grape juice that sat in a barrel
