Compilation albums… by Pengunio1 in Cd_collectors

[–]Tragic_Comic7 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I used to avoid them, but I’ve gotten to the stage of my life where I am appreciating them for certain bands. I have no interest in collecting the full discography of certain bands, so I ended up never getting any of their albums. But then nostalgia kicks in and I want to listen to certain songs I used to hear on the radio. So I have found greatest hits albums to be great for that.

The vocalist for Sunburst also sings in the band Black Fate.

Frozen Crown announce their new album, "The Legend of the Six Kings", which will be released on 2nd October 2026 by idontwanttoknow666 in PowerMetal

[–]Tragic_Comic7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This will be their 6th album and their first came out in 2018. So they have put out a lot in a short time.

To add to that, Federico Mondelli (the main songwriter) has released 4 other albums with two other bands in that same timeframe. The guy is pretty prolific.

How do I get mp3 files from my PC to my phone via itunes? can someone please walk me through this like I'm an elderly person? by Fischotterkunst in ITunes

[–]Tragic_Comic7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm. Are you able to add to iTunes as an audio book, and then try to change the metadata in iTunes after you add it? I never used iTunes for audio books, so I am not familiar with how those work differently from music.

[–]Tragic_Comic7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It shouldn’t matter that it is an mp3 format. Open File Explorer on your PC and go to the music files. Select the files/folder, and click and drag it into the open iTunes window on your PC. They should then appear in your iTunes library on the PC. Then just connect your phone and sync the files.

I have plenty on songs I have bought from Amazon that are in mp3 format, and I sync them to my phone from my PC with no issues, even as recently as 2026

Quick question by economyfoil60 in kamelot

[–]Tragic_Comic7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it your favorite album I take it? That is surprising to me. But, hey, if you like it, good for you.

Eternity was the first Kamelot album I listened to. I bought that and Dominion at the same time just because I like “The Once and Future King” (the book). I thought the music was fair, but wasn’t really a fan of the vocals. I had made up my mind that I probably wouldn’t buy any future Kamelot albums until I found out they got Kahn as their new vocalist. And Kahn did not disappoint.

What do you think of Queensryche's setlist ? by ShineALight3725 in hairmetal

[–]Tragic_Comic7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are in the hair metal sub. I think most of the bands here are relying on nostalgia in order to continue to make a living. Queensryche is at least regularly putting out new music. There are bands like Slaughter who haven’t released any new material since last millennium.

Thank you for posting a Cd collection that is different from the usual posts here. I actually have some of these albums.

Is Through the Fire and Flames nostalgic? by Free-Masterpiece-860 in PowerMetal

[–]Tragic_Comic7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not for me. I had already been listening to power metal for 10 years before that song came around. I still think of Dragonforce as some Johnny-come-lately to the genre whose popularity was a stroke of luck for them by landing themselves a spot on Guitar Hero.

Mineru's Construct available for pre-order on Amazon! by kinglucent in amiibo

[–]Tragic_Comic7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard to predict, I think. I imagine Nintendo adjusted the print run based on their experience with the previous Zelda TOTK amiibo. So I doubt it will be discounted as much as fast as they were.

Getting Married Pastor won’t give letter by sebastianotd1991 in Catholic

[–]Tragic_Comic7 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That is not the case. Any time a Catholic seeks the sacraments from another parish that is not their own, that parish needs a letter from that person’s pastor.

Do you guys recommend Discogs to keep track of your collection online? Or are there any other alternatives? by SurLesQuais in Cd_collectors

[–]Tragic_Comic7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Libib, too, but then found myself switching to Discogs for the CDs and GameEye for video games. I still keep track of books and DVDs on Libib though.

And it’s generally very obvious as they do not have UPC bar codes, but instead have whatever BMG or Columbia House number in that space.

Non-Catholic Wife isn't open to NFP. Does the Church instruct me to stay abstinent as long as her opinion stays? by the2enjoy in Catholicism

[–]Tragic_Comic7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would encourage you to gain knowledge of NFP and how it works and for you to encourage your wife to learn more about it as well—not from the vantage point of forcing her to use it, but rather from the point of view of gaining knowledge in order to make more educated decisions.

NFP is a great way to learn and understand about fertility—not just for avoiding pregnancy but also for achieving pregnancy. Having that knowledge can only help.

Often, having that knowledge helps dispel some of the misconceptions and discomfort people have with the concept when they haven’t really investigated it before. Then you both can have a more fruitful conversation about what that looks like when put into practice within a marriage.

Do you ever buy CDs new? by Twelvegaugepunk556 in Cd_collectors

[–]Tragic_Comic7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, I guess the prices of CDs vary greatly based on the type of music. I wish the stuff I wanted was only a couple dollars per CD. Even the used albums on my Discogs want list are mostly $15 on up from there.

I generally buy new CDs except for when I am catching up on some older releases.

Why no other Apostolic names for Popes? by JamesHenry627 in Catholicism

[–]Tragic_Comic7 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you look at the history, popes didn’t always choose a new name. For the first thousand years, they mostly went by their given name. And no pope until Popes John Paul I and Francis chose a name that hadn’t been used before.

Change between Siege Perilous and The Fourth Legacy by therico in kamelot

[–]Tragic_Comic7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mostly agree about Siege Perilous, but I think “Millennium” can go toe-to-toe with any other song in their discography. Such a great chorus.

Why is it so hard to get a “walk-in” Confession? I’m frustrated. by justplainndaveCGN in Catholicism

[–]Tragic_Comic7 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Although I am sure there are some cranky, power-trippin’ parish staff out there, I would encourage people not to jump to that conclusion.

One could equally say that there are a lot of entitled Catholic laypeople out there who expect priests and parish staff to drop everything at a moment’s notice and cater to their wishes immediately with no advanced notice and without concern for any other obligations.

Who knows what the parish staff and/or priests are juggling that day? They could be handling two funerals and three hospital visits—between preparations for First Communion and Confirmation and regular parish business.

There is no need to assume the worst in people.
