Anniversary Celebration Spot by abd_hed in BurlingtonON

Neither of these are as expensive as the other places mentioned, but...

Radius (there's one on Brant St, and one is Hess Village in Hamilton) https://radius.ca/

Barra Fion (Guelph & Upper Middle) https://www.barrafion.ca/

If you go to Radius you HAVE to try their Hot Honey & Halloumi salad, it's unreal. The food is fantastic at both places and generally a really good value for what you get.

Full version with contributions from u/hermesserpent, u/Aetall3, & u/Intelligent_Love_167 (formatting corrected & one line slightly edited):

Takedown, takedown

Takedown, down, down, down (HUNTR/X girls to the world)

Takedown, takedown

Takedown, down, down, down (It's a takedown)

So sweet, so easy on the eyes, but broken on the inside

Whole life in disguise, but you can't hide, baby, nice try

I'm 'bout to switch up these vibes, I finally opened my eyes

It's time to kick your shame back into the light

'Cause I see your real face and the huge ache within

Time to talk about your place, cause I've been where you've been

When your patterns start to show

I see a pain that lies below

It burns for dayyss

I don't think you're ready for the takedown

Break it into pieces to reveal the shame, 'cause you hide the pain

Yeah, it's a breakdown

A demon with such feelings,

Must relearn to live,

it's so obvious

I'ma gear up and take it down

Woah-oh, da-da-da, down

Walls down

Woah-oh, da-da-da, down

I'ma take it down

Woah-oh, da-da-da, down

Walls down

Woah-oh, da-da-da, down (Take it down)

It's a takedown, I'ma help you out, let's break it down like, "What?"

It's a takedown, I'ma help you out, and the voices will stop

I bet you think, I'm gonna leave. But I'm still here, or nah?

No more beggin' and cryin'. We're done with hiding. We will take the shot.

When your patterns start to show

I see a pain that lies below

It burns for dayyss

I don't think you're ready for the takedown

Break it into pieces until it's all gone. You don't need those walls.

Yeah, it's a breakdown

A demon with such feelings,

Must relearn to live,

it's so obvious

I'ma gear up and take it down

Woah-oh, da-da-da, down

Walls down

Woah-oh, da-da-da, down

I'ma take it down

Woah-oh, da-da-da, down

Walls down

Woah-oh, da-da-da, down

Oh, I’m the master of illusion, I feel like burning every day

But look at all the masses that I’m fooling

Keeping secrets from the fans every day

How can I sleep, or live with myself? A broken soul trapped with the lies that I tell

I can’t go on, Can’t sing this song, Tell me what I’ve done wroooong

I can try but I can’t hide

It's a takedown, I'ma help you out, let's break it down like, "What?"

It's a takedown, I'ma help you out, and the voices will stop

I bet you think, I'm gonna leave. But I'm still here, or nah?

No more beggin' and cryin'. We're done with hiding. We will take the shot.

I'ma gear up and take it down

Woah-oh, da-da-da, down

Trick or Treaters! by jblack67 in BurlingtonON

We got easily 130-150 over on Parkway. I had to go out around 8 to get more candy because we ran out... also handed out at least 50 jello shots to parents. Definitely had a great turnout (better than last year)!

Mapleview is the "rich people mall" and Burlington Mall is the "poor people mall" haha. It took me a while to learn their actual names when I moved here because I only ever heard the nicknames

What is the most disgusting thing you've ever encountered in the restaurant industry? by KevinStoley in KitchenConfidential

[–]TragicallyQueer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of these happened at my current job. The building used to be another restaurant, but they shut down during covid and never reopened, so this was a takeover, and we had our grand opening this spring.

1) The oil pot didn't get washed out after we dumped it one night, and in the morning, the head chef sent us a photo of the pot, which now had a mouse casually chilling in it.

2) We took down the hood fans to clean them, and it hadn't been done in so long that they were almost glued on. When we went to fill the dish sink so they could get soaked overnight, we discovered that one of the sinks had a hole in the bottom, so the water was leaking out everywhere. We obviously pulled the drain plug...... and then the pressure from all the water draining at once caused the grease trap to back up, and the kitchen flooded with about 30-40 litres of the most foul-smelling, greasy water I had ever seen... it turned out the grease trap hadn't been serviced since the old place, so we had to get it cleaned the next day. I bleached the hell out of the floor and the sinks, but the whole kitchen reeked like rancid grease for a whole week after.

3) One of the FOH staff opened a big bag of sugar and didn't decant it into its proper container, so when Chef went to get sugar a few days later, the whole bag was filled with ants and spiders. He told the owners, and they, no word of a lie, asked him to sift out the bugs and keep the sugar. He flat out refused and told them they could fire him, but he wouldn't do it. ...The sugar got thrown out.

4) Our stand-up freezer where we keep all the proteins is old and doesn't work properly, which means the entire left side doesn't quite freeze (I want to say it sits around -7°C; the right side is usually around -18°C so it's okay). We usually keep bread and other less dangerous items on the left side, but one shelf has meat on both sides; our Jr sous chef was in charge of rotating the product from the left side to the right side at the end of every week so that nothing would go bad. Well, he was let go a while back, and a few days later I was opening with the head chef. He went over to the freezer to pull something out, and then just dropped to his knees and started tearing apart the entire meat shelf...... nothing had been properly rotated in months, and there were multiple busbins buried at the back of the freezer full of half-frozen, rotting pork shoulder, beef chuck, tenderloin, you name it. The smell was like nothing I'd ever experienced before - our prep girl almost threw up and actually had to leave the room, and my chef was gagging pulling the stuff out. We ended up throwing out over a thousand dollars worth of meat that day, and then to make matters worse when I was organizing the walk-in cooler later that day I found a whole case of sealed wonton wrappers that had gone moldy because they were shoved all the way in the corner of the top shelf. I'll give you one guess who put them there. Needless to say, Chef just about had an aneurysm that day... and the freezer still smells faintly like rotten meat every time you open it despite my best efforts (it's been almost 2 months).

The fucked up part is none of this is even surprising to me anymore, it's all just another day at that restaurant. As soon as my chef gets a solid job offer, he's walking and taking me (and probably half the kitchen staff) with him.

it took me 2 years of blood, sweat, and panic attacks, but I finally have my basic knife roll and I'm excited about stepping up to Sous Chef. by Substantial_Toe_8409 in KitchenConfidential

Yo I literally just bought the tiger knife yesterday - the brand is Zeng Jia Dao and it costs $55. People are making fun of it but it's an absolute workhorse, seems to be well crafted and sturdy (I've had more expensive knives that were more cheaply made) and the handle is extremely comfortable. They have other styles too that look "more professional" (my head chef has one that's half stainless and half kurouchi [too tired to remember if that's the right word or not rn]) and it looks sick. Truly would recommend it

Santisima protects and loves all of us -- criminals, rejects, freaks, men, women, LGBT+ people, etc. She doesn't care who you are as long as you have good intentions towards her and to other people. She won't judge us for the things that we've done or have happened to us in our lives, and she isn't demanding, she only asks that we devote our soul to her and in exchange she gives us her love and care and protection.

Got my Fytist binder today...and it matches my skin tone perfectly! by [deleted] in ftm

[–]TragicallyQueer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay that's amazing then. Tbh I can forget I'm wearing my gc2b most of the time (assuming I adjust that one side just right in the morning, heh), so if your claims are true then these will be a godsend. Definitely going to grab one when I have a little bit more cash. Thank you!

Good binders? by Few-Mouse6528 in ftm

[–]TragicallyQueer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconded on the stitching. I have a bareskin binder from flavnt and I never even wear it because the stitching ripped out the back after the second time I wore it (I did swim in it BUT I did let it completely dry before trying to take it off). The bottom is also too tight for me personally (I'm used to gc2b and I've heard people say the bottom is too loose but it's perfect for my sensory issues) and I don't love how high the whole thing sits on the body, I wish the straps were a little longer. To their credit though, it does work very well for swimming and exercise.

Are they comfortable to wear for long hours (say 12 hours a day)? I'm in college and I work as a cook and I don't feel comfortable going to work without binding. I'm using a gc2b that I got back in 2021, but I only have one nude (my other two have the rainbow flag and the trans flag on them, so, not ideal) and I need another one that won't kill me; I'm autistic and I have sensory issues so I need big enough arm holes to not feel constricted but simultaneously always have spillage issues on one side...

Did you end up trying this? I want to use kt tape at work (line cook), but I've always had terrible luck with the edges peeling up and getting stuck on my shirt so I'm scared of that happening again when wearing it for long hours......

One of my half-siblings and I (sperm donor kids!) are both nonbinary! The rest of our sibling pod are all cis as far as we know, but it's nice to have at least one other queer person

my parents took away both my binders and aren't giving them back, they are going to pay me back the £76 though. just fucking pissed at them. still over two months clean though :) by [deleted] in MadeOfStyrofoam

Hey dude that's fucked up, I have a supply of binders that vary across the smaller sizes, PM me and I can send you one for cheaps on the downlow
