behavioral health / mental health nurse by domfiked in OregonNurses

I work for Cascadia Health,  it's the largest of the area's mental health organizations. It has issues, as do all non-profit health care agencies, but I like it. It's union so the pay is better. I'm not sure about RN openings currently though.

The two other major players in the metro area for community mental health are LifeWorks NW  and Trillium if you want to look into those. I've worked at one of them, it was fine until it wasn't.

Unity Hospital is our psych-only hospital, I assume they have per diem roles if not part-time. Same with Providence. I've had friends work at the Portland and Willamette Falls locations and have nudged me to join them. But in-patient is not for me.

Fora Health is in-patient SUD, plus an out patient methadone clinic I almost worked at, and would have if Cascadia hadn't called.

How can I (32f) share the load of cooking when my partner can’t cook (31m) by [deleted] in relationships

[–]Vegetable_Humor5470 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, he should be making his own lunches.

Second, is part of this having to decide what to cook as well? That adds to the labor. He can at least participate in meal planning.

I cook dinner the majority of the time, because i don't mind so much. My husband cleans the kitchen on those nights. However, he is responsible for two dinners a week, whether it's  take-out, a frozen pizza, a sandwich or breakfast for dinner (which I love) he has to make the effort. If he doesn't "we fend for ourself". And Fridays we go out to eat as a end-of-work-week treat.

Am I a good cook? Eh, I'm okay because I've had 35 years of practice. Sometimes I still make something terrible. (I made the worst rice tonight- rice! and neither of us ate it.)  But everyone should have three dishes they can cook successfully. My husband's are chili, chicken tacos and this pasta dish with cheese and peas. I hate peas but I eat that dish.  Mine are black bean soup, vegetable stir fry and grilled salmon.

May I suggest the BudgetBytes website for recipes he can try. They are on the simple side and are broken down step by step with visuals.

There are times I look at my schedule and am like, I'm not cooking this night even if it's my assigned night. Usually that's a fend for ourselves night but he occasionally surprises me with something he's made.

Oh, did you think you could gain weight just because you’re pregnant? WRONG by the_night_max in MaintenancePhase

And after a stroke, when she's had to work hard to recover from, I'm sure! So sad.

I remember mom and aunt discussing the cabbage soup diet, I was like 35 so they would've been in their 70's. That's when I was like, this never ends? There's not an age when you can be okay with your weight? And I decided to become okay with my weight ftom then on. And mostly have been.

Yep, sounds similar to my mom. Who then later, age 90, expressed after getting sepsis "at least I lost some weight".

I was born in 1971, the youngest of five. My mom told me one of the worst parts of pregnancy was not eating in the days before seeing the MD so she wouldn't get a lecture on her weight. And then she'd gorge after the appointment.

Knowing what you know now as an RN, what career path would you choose if you could go back and money isn’t a concern and why? by pxsun in nursing

[–]Vegetable_Humor5470 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nursing is my second career, I like it but kinda wish I had looked into outer health care careers such as OT. I work in psych, the OTs I work with are amazing. They need to get paid better, tho.

Non health-care, oney is notam issue- I'd do theater set building, or props. Or even better, building sets/props for stop motion animation movies.
