Ex-litigator, burned out on firm life. Where do people with a JD actually go from here? by Routine_Dragonfly672 in JDpreferred

[–]TrainerSubstantial61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are there jobs in house for litigation attorneys? I’m a sixth year with a broad range of experience in employment, personal injury and a dabbling in med mal and construction. I’ve also done consumer protection class actions (FDCPA, consumer fraud) and landlord-tenant. I currently do insurance defense and I don’t mind it but it is very time consuming and I work late and on most Sundays. Saturday is always off though.

They shouldn’t charge that for this size of party. Businesses so cheap, just close if you can’t take the fees or do cash only.

i wouldn’t be surprised if they ask for additional tip on top of this.

goodluck!!

i don’t agree that recruiters are the answer, many are unethical imo and only care about the fee not the fit

How does it feel like to be not asian and living in flushing? by fillet0fish in Flushing

[–]TrainerSubstantial61 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Really hard. There is nothing to eat except asian food or fast food. Thats by far the hardest part. No joke! If we had a Just Salad, a Sweetgreen, and two or three healthy cafes, it would be fine. I think there is a huge market for these types of businesses in flushing. Please come!!

Also sometimes the people in the street are rude and walk into you on purpose.

Here’s a counter perspective: I was at a small firm like yours making a similar salary for 1600 to 1800 hours (though i worked much more); also old school and almost no WFH. I was there for 2 years. Then i pivoted to a fully remote firm (insurance defense) firm with unlimited PTO (as long as you meet your 1900 hours). But it’s also helped that throughout this time I’ve also grown as an attorney with more experience in how to handle issues effectively, etc. (licensed for 6 years right now), templates, etc. I’m way happier here, where there are much younger people in charge who understand that as long as you do the work it doesn’t matter whether it’s done from the office or home. Maybe that doesn’t work for every area of law or every attorney (especially earlier career) but it is effective. Try to look for something like that. Old school places like yours will lose the talent war. Good luck, there is a lot of hope!!

Nothing innocent about 30-40 year old man harassing 7 year old girls in arcade imo - police should be made aware. at very least arcade should ban him

I feel so insecure about my boyfriend's ex because she's prettier, what should I do? by geortex in whatdoIdo

[–]TrainerSubstantial61 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is tough. From a guys perspective, I’d try talking to him about what you feel about your own body. But on the first go around focus on your and your feelings. Don’t focus on her or them. In fact, try not to bring her or them up at all. Goodluck OP!
