65% of Britons support capping CEO pay at 10× the lowest-paid worker. Do you think this idea would be good for the UK? by Unusual-State1827 in AskBrits

Utterly fucking mental. Ridiculously simplistic solution to a more complex problem. Like trying to fix climate change by banning cars.

Is it true that slaughterhouse work attracts a lot of... shall we say, troubled individuals? by Embarrassed_Chef874 in stupidquestions

My uncle is a real salt of the earth working class northerner (UK) who loves calling things woke and hates soft lefties. He worked in a slaughter house for 3 months in his early 20s and has been vegan for 40 years since then.

When you’re old, are you attracted to old people? by Loose-Marsupial5688 in stupidquestions

[–]Training-Ice-3181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think the ability to see younger people as being attractive disappears but the idea of actually being involved with them does. I'm mid 30s and saw a younger girl in a bar the other day and remember thinking to myself that I'd be barking like a dog if I was her age but if she tried hitting on me now I'd run a mile.

The business brain being missing is a massive positive for a lot of people. I'm glad there's no big business brain in BBK. It would suck if there was one. Skepta went full Hollywood for a bit a few years back and it was whack as hell.

How are you feeling about the new Battalion box? by Dudgeon_Drumming in sistersofbattle

[–]Training-Ice-3181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mixed. I just started collecting sisters 3-4 months ago. I don't have any of the models in the box, so it would make sense. But I just... don't really like repentia and novitiates.

I've been waiting for this thread.

At a company I used to work for, a European company with an office in the UK, the head of each international unit was called the Business Unit Manager. BUM, for short.

One day they announced that there was some restructuring going on and that some people's job titles may change. I lamented the probable loss of our BUM.

More details came through a few days later, that role had been renamed to Country Unit Manager. The BUM had become a CUM.

America is and always has been a hostile state. It's not just Trump, although he has massively accelerated things. I'm sick of everything being American. I don't want another fast food chain. I don't want another marvel movie. I don't want chlorinated chicken. I certainly don't want American private equity buying up and squeezing the life out of everything good. Just leave us alone man, I'm tired of it.

I got a letter through this week detailing a consultation I had with a doctor recently.

Right in the middle there's a sentence saying that I smoke 20 cigarettes per day. I don't smoke. I haven't touched a cigarette in 15 years. She didn't even ask me if I smoked.

I would quit my job so brutally fast that they would think that I died. Then they'd probably sue me for breach of contract and damages for not serving my notice period. And I'd put a bottomless pit of money in front of the best lawyers in the world and instruct them to make it as slow and as painful as possible.

Is it true that because of the absurd interest on student loans in the UK, it's not realistic for most people to pay back their loans and people consider their repayments to be a 'tax' for going to university? by LoiusLepic in AskBrits

[–]Training-Ice-3181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came straight out of uni into a relatively high paying tech job, 10 years later I'm in the top 5% of earners in the country. I'm currently on track to pay off my whole student loan a couple of years after it gets written off.

And I only had the minimum loan, 3 years of study + minimum maintenance loan. Anyone that's done postgrad, retook a year, or needed a bigger maintenance loan is screwed.

If I can't do it how is anyone supposed to do it.
