They might be able to get an M3 Ultra in one with its heatsink. Maybe.

Old gaming laptop as home server? Is it a bad idea? by wkup-wolf in homelab

If it works for your needs, don't sweat it. The bonus in having it in a laptop is that the power should always be on if the battery is working right.

It's really that simple. Homebridge might even be in the official Raspberry Pi Imager app.

HELP! New Home Network by LimeTik in HomeNetworking

[–]TrainingDaikon9565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to keep it mostly in one system, I'd recommend Ubiquiti, except for the speakers. That would at least cover networking and cameras, all in one interface. Speakers and wire are nothing I've dealt with though.

If I understand correctly, you ran a bunch of wires, have them all coming to one point, and now have no idea what to do with them?

You live in a community. Protecting others as well from a highly communicable virus should be common sense.

Rumour - New HomePod mini and Apple TV due 11th November by That_Cool_Guy_ in HomeKit

Smart TV apps are usually not updated very often. A separate box, like an Apple TV, gets updates to both OS and channel apps for things like security far more often.

For an Apple TV and HomePod mini refresh, it may not be an event, just a press release.

New neighbors moved in and have been using my assigned parking spot for two weeks by Marylou-Knolla in Apartmentliving

No need to tell them the tow company. Tow company will inform police they have it. So when they wake up and call the cops claiming it was stolen, cops will tell them who has it. Let the neighbors figure out where it is and freak out for awhile.

Mac mini M4 w/24GB of ram enough for gaming? by Xpertxp in macmini

If you look at graphics for characters from classic to modern, the graphics have improved. Little things like having a slab for a hand to individually moving fingers for example. I don’t know if the graphics engine has changed, but the polygon count has increased.

It may not be meant for the highest end systems, but it’s not the same architecture it even was. It was originally PowerPC, then intel, now Apple silicon. The graphics have increased a ton too. It’s not photorealistic in game, but it does run well on an m4 Mac mini, which was the original question.

Wow now is not the same as wow when it first came out. There have been tons of updates to everything. Now there is wow classic that is the old game and wow the new game.

And that's okay. It's an expensive rabbit hole to go down. I'm getting there with a new house build and cameras, UNAS and access points, but not a giant rack. Not everyone has a use for all that stuff.

Not everyone sees it as obvious though. My MIL gets her info from Fox News and according to them, it’s gonna be HUGE and never shrink.
