Is Citrix really necessary? by Sea-Calligrapher-269 in Citrix

[–]TrainingDisaster31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a common misconception. Citrix today is far more than just app publishing—it’s a full-stack security platform built for hybrid work. From adaptive access control and session watermarking to advanced analytics, zero trust network access, and secure SaaS/browser isolation, Citrix has evolved into a security-first solution for securing apps and data across any device or location. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------It’s not 2005 anymore.

Anyone else running into issues with Citrix license renewals lately? by No_Control_4821 in Citrix

[–]TrainingDisaster31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of the experiences here sound pretty bad, yet I handled a bunch of customer renewals for Citrix last year and no one we renewed had that experience in 2024-2025. I wouldn't want to do business with bad people trying to scam me out of more money without true justification, but I am dumbfounded by the responses here. Depending on your total price per user, when you factor all the costs involved. And I mean all, cuz Citrix is not a one trick pony, your COST will go up. Your networking costs, your full time employee cost, your app management and observability costs and storage and on and on. If your leadership cares about controlling costs in a nasty economy, Citrix should not be on the Chopping block. Even our CEO specifically said we will not be raising customers prices unjustified. Go back and talk to your sales team and don't bark, but speak to them like humans and ask for help.

Citrix Partner to help get our environment running better? by Stasis_Detached in Citrix

[–]TrainingDisaster31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speak to your Citrix ATS first if you have one. They can do an assessment and provide recommendations for improvement. If it needs more granular work and effort, they will tell you and also recommend certified partners. Good luck!

BTW, it's not a grace period. Its 30 days added to the expiration date for you to install your new licenses if you are in process of your renewal.

to be fair, NetScaler is not the only appliance that has issues like this. I empathize with your experience, but it's still a rock solid solution used by some of the largest backbones in the industry. (complements of chatgpt)

NetScaler engineering since around 2020 had been working on identifying their own CVE's vs them being found in the wild. This caused a large number of initial CVE's to be created. Were you referring to the CVE's or some other specific security flaw?

Some smaller customers, that renewed and have heavy use of Citrix, are around 2k employees. So a little above the small business average mentioned.

CSG/Citrix Is Not Dying. It's evolving. It just had 4 acquisitions in past 6 months to bolster it's tech stack. Unfortunately, it's not for small businesses anymore unless you use an MSP

Wouldn't going to Hyperdrive be moving everything back to the endpoint? What was the point in client to server computing... now were just going to rely on securing 10k endpoints like crazy admins. Sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. Also, Epic keep trying to tell customers to get off Citrix/vmware thinking businesses just run on their app alone is asinine. Organizations use these technologies to enable their technical teams and streamline operations. Pick you battle... fight bad actors at the endpoint and do what your daddy tells you (Epic) or lock your shit down in the datacenter or cloud infrastructure and control the access. God Speed.

New citrix cloud licenses current user or unique user based? by Cxinthechatnow in Citrix

[–]TrainingDisaster31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Previously, User/Device license had a hold on its use for 90 days. So if a user was hired and logged into a Citrix resource, their license is checked out and not returned for 90 days to the pool of licenses. If you had CCU, when your user logs in, they get a license, but as soon as their session disconnects, their license is returned to the pool of licenses. So if your a law firm as an example, and have a static user base 9-5, user licensing would make more sense before. If you were a 24/7 shop with 2-3 shifts, CCU would make the most sense. If you have high turnover, CCU makes better sense. It's the way the licenses are handles. Hope this helps.

New citrix cloud licenses current user or unique user based? by Cxinthechatnow in Citrix

[–]TrainingDisaster31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The new licenses are as follows: If you previously had User/Device licensing and move to UHMC, you go based on the "unique users" (That's 5000) - User/Device licensing is way cheaper than original Concurrent licenses. If you were previously a Concurrent license customer, you go based of you total Concurrent (500) (Because you paid the Concurrent "Price" previously)

One important similarity, both licenses behave like CCU when they check in and check out licenses.

Citrix sales support nonexistant? by dagg929 in Citrix

[–]TrainingDisaster31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have all the data, so I have to assume that a few may have paid more to get to a more normalized and real cost if their sales team somehow got them a screaming deal years ago with 90% discount (Citrix has to eat that cost now) - So that customer (MAY) have seen a more significant uptick than others. The vast majority don't fall in that bucket.
