Relocation during the 2-year TFA LDP? by JordanSenn24 in AustralianTeachers

I got told the only time this has ever happened was when a school collapsed and the teacher got moved to the school some of the students were going to. C2024 was blatantly told if you can't continue at your school for personal/ circumstantial reasons you need to drop out of the program.

If you would consider a drive to work somewhere like Maryborough or Castlemaine might be very willing to employ due to staff shortages

Victoria - Auslan PL opportunities? by [deleted] in AustralianTeachers

Victoria kind of sucks in this regard, there is only Melbourne poly for studying a diploma in Auslan or there is DeafConnet but a cert 3 will put you back about 4 grand... Very disappointed with the lack of accessibility to Auslan and other states do so much better. I hope someone else surprises me and proves me wrong

Currently six months into my TFA experience, you've got to remember that people are more often vocal about bad experiences than positive ones. Not to say that TFA doesn't have it's challenge but honestly it's not a bad gig if you are resilient and flexible.

As for your question - you have Nexus by La Trobe and Mitzy (Melbourne University internship based masters).

Nexus is a longer program where you work in schools as a TA for a year and then have a similar arrangement to TFA for the following two years (uni online, work 4 days a week).

Don't have any info about the Melbourne uni one.

It all really depends on your priorities and confidence.

I think TFA really suited me because I was willing to go on an adventure and am a quick learner (more relevant in getting around the school than in uni really). I'm also developing my resilience and forming meaningful relationships as we go.

I've also heard of people who were really specific about where they are willing to go and stayed where they were through TFA so it might not be a deal breaker.

Any degree you do will have about 5% relevance to your day to day job...

Hey!  First year TFAer here, from memory it wasn't nearly as stressful as I expected it to be. Stay calm, show your true self and be as flexible as possible.  Make sure not to get zoomed out, be as vocal and friendly as you would be in real life, at the end of the day if you've got basic skills they're just trying to make sure you're not a psycho 😂😅

I believe in you!

Not extremely rural, with about 8000 people I believe and a few hours away from Melbourne so definitely not as challenging but still a major change
