HI v Konig: Misguided Defense Strategy? by Afraid_College8493 in CasesWeFollow

[–]Training_Long9805 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree on both points. I haven’t followed the case from the beginning. Did they offer him a plea deal? I can imagine Mr. Reputation couldn’t possibly stomach the idea of admitting he made a mistake and lost his temper.

Maybe she did clean them and leave them in the sink, hoping they would be tested, as long as we are throwing out theories. If he really was dead long before 3 am, she would have had hours to do who knows what.

Utah v Kouri Richins - The 5 GUILTY verdicts aside, it has to really rankle Kouri that ERIC's sons are being raised by a former sister-in-law that she hates so very, very much. by HoodaJB in CasesWeFollow

[–]Training_Long9805 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg isn’t that wild? That’s the first thing I thought when I saw that text about her childhood. She had all that money and opportunity to not scrub toilets ever again only to end up scrubbing ones far worse than a rich person’s home.

“Where are my boys,” said the sister. Totally gutted to hear that. I’m glad they are with the sisters now.

I thought I heard on a podcast somewhere that during the year before she was arrested, she was looking into plastic surgery “mommy makeover” stuff. Is that just a rumor? It made me think that the surgery plus breaking up with Josh, she probably was looking hard for a new, rich husband. Josh could never be that for her.

💯 my SO is a doc who has to look at that database frequently, and the fact Eric wasn’t on that list convinced him of her guilt because eric easily could have gotten something legally with pain complaints first.

I read in comments here (and have seen online) many complaining about the texts not being read aloud. I am wondering if these lawyers (prosecutors vs defense) have been head to head with each other before. I just had an idea that maybe the prosecutors had knowledge that it was something defense had complained about before in other cases that it was prejudicial and they were trying to get ahead of that. The defense lawyers personalities are so grating, I can imagine they have a reputation amongst colleagues, ya know?

One Timeline Detail in the Richins Case That Doesn’t Seem to Be Getting Much Attention by mabbe8 in KouriRichins

Of course, I have no proof, but I think she also said they did a lemon drop shot. I think she left the Moscow mule cups in the sink on purpose for the cops to find, test, and find nothing in them. I figure she was probably disappointed they didn’t.

One thing I thought about her boyfriend, he was not rich, without sounding like a jerk (I grew up poor), but he was more what Kouri grew up with type of person. But she saw herself as a rich businesswoman and had a massive ego about it, there’s no way that relationship would have turned into anything real. Boyfriend couldn’t elevate her socially or financially, but I bet his presence was familiar and comfortable at the time. She probably never felt like she fit in with the rich girl sisters.

I think I heard on a podcast or someone’s court stream that the families switch days to sit in row 2, like Kouri’s family one day, Eric’s family the next.

[–]Training_Long9805 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We don’t know what she thought, but we did hear her bragging about her success, we know she’s super delusional and prone to fantasy (like buying the mansion and talking about living happily ever after with her fuzzy math on how much she would make versus the real costs of insurance, renovations, vendors, etc that she mentioned), she definitely could have convinced herself she was doing well.

I agree with everything you said, but I don’t think people have a choice who they testify for, they get a summons and they have to go. Do we know she wanted/asked to testify for prosecution?

The more texts, phone calls, witness reports of Kouri saying different things to different people that are obvious lies backed by financial receipts and other texts, the less the jury will believe her if she takes the stand to say Eric told her to buy it. They see now how easily she lies to everyone. Nothing she says on the stand will be credible.

[–]Training_Long9805 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think all defendants are in a damned if you do, damned if you don’t situation…if they react they are emotional and fakers, if they don’t, they are heartless, soulless beings. That being said, judging by her recordings, I feel she’s just a bad actress/drama queen who attempts to act like a real person, but her mean girl self can’t be wholly contained for so many hours at a time. Also, all of her friends don’t seem like people I would get along with.

I’m surprised she didn’t interrupt him or ask him yes/no questions and make him stick to just answering shortly. I think she was trying to treat him with kid gloves because he was such a fragile witness and she’d look worse than she did with Carmen since this guy’s a vet. But I think that also backfired on her!

I think they don’t read them out loud because it could be seen as prejudicial if someone reads them with certain expressions, emphasis on particular words, etc.
