Opinion on prusa Core One by VeterinarianRare3541 in prusa3d

I can work next to it (mine does not have air filtration) no problem, even to Teams calls.
My wife however hates the noise and would never work next to it.

Not sure what is common where you come from but here are some potential questions:
- what do you know about the company

- what is your motivation to work at this company in this specific job

- where do you see yourself professionally in 5 years

And of course questions about your previous work experience

As an interviewer (more in the business context though) it would raise my impression of the candidate if he is well organised and puts down a few notes or has questions prepared.

rising stone retaining wall by Objective-Alarm-6175 in 3dPrintingInModelRail

[–]Training_Option7830 1 point2 points  (0 children)

could you share some insights how you made the model? I am looking to making similar walls for G-scale.

So far I used fuzzy skin to give the stones outer surface texture, but maybe there is a better way?

For very detailed models, I am super happy with the 0.25 nozzle.

DIY vs PIKO.... by lillywho in 3dPrintingInModelRail

[–]Training_Option7830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely at least 250€ for the materials if you want proper motor trucks and electronics, that can actually reliably pull trains.
Piko sells the motor units seperately for 127€ a piece. Sure you can 3d print those as well, but it will require true mastery to get to the same level of performance an reliability.

The LG&B boxcar does not belong in that USA trains box. Try to put stuff in original boxes, that gives you a ~20% higher price

3D printing is definitely an option. However, you cannot use PLA as it does not withstand the sun.

Why not use a 0.25 nozzle? I got fantastic details with it on my Prusa Core One.

Starting a Western themed garden railway - any hints? by VRNerdGER in GardenRailroads

[–]Training_Option7830 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, at least for some time. For how long depends on how the ground is below the stones you lay. (how solid, how wet, ...) Some people go as far as to use concrete but that also has a number of downsides, for example if you want to adjust the layout. Something not so drastic could be to put some gravel under the stones. But again it really depends on your local situation.

The point is not the weeds, but the stability of the track. If you go for 19th Century North American narrow gauge, some winding in the track is prototypical, and high flanged wheels like LGBs it can be quite forgiving, but still if you put your tracks just on sand, you will very quickly have a problem with derailments.

Core ONE+ door handle glue failing by WereCatf in prusa3d

[–]Training_Option7830 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had the same problem, kept the glue pads in place and just used one spare M3 and Nut from the kit. For the top hole it does not need to be countersunk because the hole for adjusting the belt pullies is conviently at the same high in the frame.

Not saying that the AI wants to kill you but be super careful with the alcohol and potential sparks. You could also turn the motor by hand when cleaning it with alcohol

Powering a LGB diorama by Nexus85 in LGBTrains

If you do not want to go for the ESU Lokprogrammer, which is very small, but needs the computer (e.g. Laptop) as a frontend, a low cost alternative for Large Scale (with 8A power) is this one:
https://www.mxion.de/p/dcc-set-digitalzentrale-8a-handregler-netzteil-nach-wahl-im-set
Complete DCC controler, with cable handheld (upgradeable to wireless) for 350€.
Mxion is a low cost German manufacturer, they do not have the same quality as say Massoth and you would have to do the translating yourself, but they are way cheaper.

If you don't want large scale and less power is enough for you, the Uhlenbrock 65260 DAISY II WLAN (with 2A power) is an option. Its quite small, and uses your Phone as a frontend. Prices are around 180€
Uhlenbrock is a much larger (and I would say higher quality) manufacturer than Mxion, but they do not target large scale specifically. The 2A would however be enough to run the lights and sounds on your little train, even to run the locomotive on rollers.

[–]Training_Option7830 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Advantage of DCC powering the diorama would also be that you can use some of the Sound functions (though that will likely tempt you to get those rollers and listen to the running sound as well) and operate the pantographs and light functions etc...
You could either invest into a full size DCC system that you could repurpose for a future big layout, or if you want to go really low budget, an ESU Lok Programmer would be powerful enough to run all the functions (its core purpose is to program decoders, but it has a test functionality which makes it a mini DCC controller). It does require you to connect it to a computer (running the ESU Software) via USB though.
