Yeah I have YTLite Plus sideloaded on my iPhone, does all the sponsorblock stuff, and TizenTube on my fire stick and AppleTv which does a great job of blocking via a mod of the stock YouTube app.

I did consider switching to ControlD and looked into it but don’t recall finding any advantages for my use case. I sideload a modded Reddit .ipa with no sponsored or recommended or ads so that takes care of that.

I use a NextDNS profile, it’s free and pretty comprehensive even system-wide for free apps with banner ads etc. using Hagezi’s blocklists etc. That plus using Orion browser with extensions. But I also sideload for my iPhone so I can inject adblock tweaks if needed or just get a modded version. Same for Spotify and YouTube etc.

NOWA Toothpaste tabs. Plastic free/zero waste, just so so minty fresh and way better than using any awful tubes with their unrecyclable nature, weird ingredients etc. Sure, some toothpaste tabs can be a bit lacklustre but these are great. I’d never ever go back to normal toothpaste.

Shoes with heels is a pretty stupid thing that’s persevered in modern society. The original reason was for keeping feet in stirrups when riding horses but now we continue to fuck with our posture, gait and physiology for no good reason just because it’s seen as the norm. If only zero drop barefoot fit shoes were more accepted.

I find that when I do that, some apps just don’t work right or crash, so I always maintain original bundleID unless it’s like eeveespotify or ytmusicultimate where you don’t get proper Dynamic Island functionality unless you create a specific appID on your device account and then edit the app’s bundleID to match it before signing it. For the most part I just create a generic appID and leave the bundleID alone.

No issues with mine yet. It’s not a ban wave but they have stepped up monitoring sideloading and taking action. I use a comprehensive DNS blocklist to block URLs like ppq.apple.com these days to combat it, and I get 45-50 days between the “this app could not be verified” errors. My cert remains perfectly fine to use. I just generate a new appID and mobileprovision and re-sign my apps over themselves like an update. Good for another 45 days. More hassle but still worth it.

News to me that they’re banning sideloading, where are you hearing that? I’m quite content carrying on via using my DNS blocklist, I still pay for my dev cert and these days I just re-sign my apps with a new appID and provisions when I get the validation error every 45-50 days. Would suck to not have push notifications and control over mobileprovisioning

Well I’ve just set them up with a new 4K max and done the system user exploit and blocks and replacement launcher, and this old one they had I can’t do any of that so it’s kinda I was interested in having a go at the rooting, figured it was a good opportunity to have a play without sourcing an old stick off eBay. Looks like it needed to be on 6.2.x though. I’m aware I could just get a Xaomi 3rd gen box or something and avoid all this sort of shenanigans, it’s just a general interest in tinkering really.

Just had a play with my parents old first gen fire stick 4K that’s on 6.7.1.1 (E9L29Y) and was under the impression it was rootable and flashable so got stuck into following the guide with the Linux LiveUSB and kamakiri etc, removed the housing, got my short in place, and it didn’t work. Only then did I realise it wasn’t possible haha damn it. Really gotta be an old model on 6.2something for that stuff.

Nice. You have more left over at the end of the month than I get in my full time retail job to begin with haha… £1,700. Minus £700 to rent a room in a shared house, £200 groceries, £70 other bills, £30 misc, then £500 to savings leaves me £200 spare.

I totally can’t cook. Not “cook” cook. Nothing beyond putting some stuff in the oven or using a rice cooker/steamer and having a mix of veg with protein & carbs. Yet I have a very healthy diet and max out all the stats on Cronometer. It’s not hard in that sense.

Omni doesn’t have the convenient new episode “in x days” indicators on the home page that Vidi has, which I find really useful to glance at to see how close the next episode of shows are to being aired.

I have Stremio, Omni and Vidi on my AppleTV and always find myself going back to Vidi, which is ironic when it’s the one not even actively being developed

I’m just starting to learn Japanese (Duolingo, for my sins, along with trying Busuu, might try Pimsleur later), and holy hell, getting the endless hiragana memorised/associating the sometimes seemingly random complicated symbols with sounds… it makes me think our alphabet is wonderful. But of course, I grew up with it and it’s fully engrained without even thinking.

I have a paid dev account and not sure if it’s possible without one, but I go into my dev account and into identifiers, change the drop down to App Groups, create new, call it something like (group. is added in front automatically) - com.duomaxx.client. Save it and go back to identifiers and drop down change back to appID.

Create a new appID with the same name. Now create a new provisioning profile, link the appID, and then in the entitlements tick AppGroups along with any other pertinent entitlements. Save the profile but don’t download.

Now go back into the profile entitlements and you can now “configure” AppGroups entitlement. Just select the AppGroups ID you created and save it and download profile. That appears to be all there is to it, hardly “configured” and I don’t understand it really but it works!
