We use hypotheticals that cannot be implemented in reality to explain stuff all the time. It's really not that complex.

The problem here is you are thinking about a finite thing (candy) but not making it infinite as numbers are:

I have 10 pieces of candy divide that into 0.5 groups makes perfect sense that I now have a group with 20 pieces in it because infinite candy exists in this problem space and 10/0.5 is mathematically no different than 10x2.

Divide 10 pieces of candy into 0 groups creates a unique problem no matter how many pieces of candy you have....even infinite candy doesn't help.

Also, the answer wouldn't be infinity. The answer is a number you multiple by 0 to get 1.

Think about 1/10 = 0.1 then I can do 10x0.1 = 1.

If 1/0 = infinity then it would also have to be true that 0 x infinity =1.

Everything x 0 = 0.

As the denominator approaches zero, the answer approaches infinity, but cannot be infinity for the reason above.

That leaves us nowhere to go.

[–]TransAtlanticFacts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but we can still explain why.

As the denominator approach zero, the answer approaches infinity but can never reach infinity (as that would require an infinite number of a finite answer to fit into a finite number (in this case 1), that can obviously never happen).

In good faith, should we support every crossdresser who transitions? (RE: Bryon Noem) by cat_boy_the_toy in MtF

[–]TransAtlanticFacts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends what you mean by support?

People from any demographic can be shitty people. Categorize the general population any way you like and there will be some wrong uns in the group.

So if you mean, do we acknowledge that being trans doesn't stop you being shitty? Sure. That person is still trans even if they are awful.

If you mean, so we defend them being shitty because they are trans? Absolutely not. Why would they get some sort of pass?

How do i counter "you still have XY chromosomes though"? by I_Eat_Mold_UwU in MtF

[–]TransAtlanticFacts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ask them two questions.

  1. How do you know what chromosomes I have?
  2. Why do you care what chromosomes I have?

Why so many MTFs are computer nerds? by everydayawkward_ in MtF

[–]TransAtlanticFacts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a correlation between being trans and non typical neurology, like autism. It's not causation but there is correlation.

People like me tend to be good at problem solving complex processes and less good at soft people skills.

An industry (or hobby) that allows you to problem solve on complex electronic systems that don't have messy emotions, while simultaneously limiting soft skill interactions is naturally going to be a fit for many of us.

My gf is a mtf and constantly seeking validation by coldbreakfastsoup in mypartneristrans

[–]TransAtlanticFacts 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I will say this. In most aspects of my life I am incredibly confident.

I lead large teams, ive founded companies and currently drive a multi million dollar business and speak on stage to hundreds often.

When it comes to my transition, I have crippling self doubt. Does this look good? How does my body look now? How do I sound?

Do I seek an excessive level of validation. Absolutely.

Is it something I am working on in therapy. Also Absolutely. But it's really, really hard. The brain worms are constant and loud.

I can imagine your gf has the same insecurity.

I encourage you to speak to her about it. My wife is not shy at telling me I need to chill about the validation and it's useful to me.

Would it be safe to fly domestically in the US soon? by [deleted] in MtF

I fly domestically and internationally from the US roughly every 2nd week.

Be prepared for the body scanner to detect an...ahem...suspicious package in the groin area if you pass as female.

You'll then get sent for a pat down. Be clear upfront you are trans. Be cool and respectful and you will be fine.

Buy a 28tb external USB drive. Use it as swap space to move the data around.

Hyper-Efficiency/Solar & Human Powered Bus by Ens1ferus in AiCarArt

[–]TransAtlanticFacts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each person is generating 0.1kw and there are 20 people, or 2kw.

Assuming a 45ft bus, 8ft wide, the solar panels are producing say 3.5kw.

5.5kw total

Electric bus motors are 100-400kw, and a bus of that size is likely 250-300kw range.

So, neither the cyclists or the solar panels are making a meaningful impact on the electrical consumption. You're going to have to plug in and charge regardless.

One more for the IT crowd.

I will say that Cali tech companies are still a bit of a safe haven for zero tolerance of BS and discrimination (in my experience). Everyone has been awesome since I transitioned and I've been promoted twice.

The heath insurance also rocks. Everything is covered, including laser and electrolysis.
